The death took place on Wednesday week last at his residence of Mr Patrick (Pake) Mulligan, Funshinagh, Four Roads. Aged 80, deceased was a well-known building contractor in the Mid-South Roscommon area and was also a part-time farmer. Of an industrious and hard working disposition, he was devoted to his immediate and extended family and performed many neighbourly deeds and kind acts in the course of his life.
An avid sports enthusiast, he was a noted hurler with Four Roads in his younger days and he retained a lifelong active interest in the affairs of the club. He had the distinction of serving as club chairperson for 15 years and was also greatly aware of the hurling and football scene nationally. He also took a keen interest in current affairs and political affairs and was a lifelong supporter of the Fianna Fail party.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa (nee Mulry, Jamestown, Four Roads) and daughters, Marie, Dublin; Mrs Patricia Murphy, Dublin; Louise, Dublin; Yvonne, Dublin; and Fiona, Dublin. A member of a family of 12, he is also survived by brothers Tom, Birmingham and Joe, Shercock, Co Cavan and sisters, Mrs Kitty Greene, Birmingham; Mrs Mai McAleer, Birmingham; Mrs Eileen Neary, Birmingham; Bridie, Four Roads and Mrs Teresa Finneran, Screen, Co. Meath, two grandchildren and a number of other relatives.
