Late Mr Frank Cullinan
The death occurred at the County Hospital Roscommon on Thursday, October 7th of Mr Frank Cullinan, Lisannay, Castlerea. He was very popular, a great friend and neighbour and was held in high esteem by all that knew him. He was a great man to attend funerals and indeed it was no surprise that his funeral on both days, were the largest seen in the area for sometime. In his youth he was an outstanding footballer, winning a West Board Championship medal with his native Ballinagare in 1955. He won a county junior championship medal with St. Brendan's, Killina in 1951 and a senior O'Rourke Cup medal with Castlerea in 1959. He also played county junior and senior football with Roscommon. His remains were removed from McDonagh's Funeral Home, Castlerea on Friday evening to Fairymount Church. Burial took place in Fairymount Cemetery on Saturday, following Mass celebrated by Fr. James Creation, Fairymount, assisted by Canon Joe Fitzgerald, Castlera, Canon Kevin Earley Frenchpark and Fr.Peter Maloney Castlerea. He is survived by his wife, Rhona; sons, John and Michael; daughters, Martina, Veronica and Annette; son-in-law, Kevin; daughter-in-law, Gemma, brother, Bartley, sisters, Sr. Jacinta, Teresa and Anne, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends Danny Burke gave an oration at the graveside.
