The community of Donamon is in mourning following the tragic death of a young man in a traffic accident on Sunday evening.
Twenty year old Joseph (Joey)Carty from Ballydooley, Donamon was killed when his car left the main Castlerea to Roscommon road, close to his home at around 5.30pm on Sunday.
The deceased was a son of Ann and Michael Carty and one of six children in the family. He was a well known figure in local sporting circles as he played with Oran Hurling Club. The young man is understood to have worked locally. A past pupil of Clooneycolgan NS and the CBS in Roscommon town his death has been met with widespread sorrow in the local community.
Gardai have appealed for witnesses to the fatal single vehicle accident.
