Mr Patrick Larkin, Loughglynn, Castlerea died peacefully after a short illness on Thursday May 22nd last at the County Hospital in Roscommon. Known locally as Patsy, he was a male nurse at St. Patrick's Hospital in Castlerea for many years before he retired to his garden at his home in Loughglynn village. A devout Catholic, he also had a great knowledge of both politics and current affairs. Patsy (81) had a keen interest in the world of sport and was one of the founding members of Eire Og GAA club where he had been of the club presidents since its inception. A native of County Galway, Patsy followed his county's football and hurling teams as well as keeping an eye on the fortunes of Manchester United who did him proud last Wednesday in Moscow on the eve of his death. He is deeply regretted by his loving wife Brigid (nee Craven) sons Padraic and Noel; daughters-in-law, Denise and Ursula; grandchildren, Ciara, Michelle, Cathal, Patrick and Oisin; sisters, Francie, Kathleen and Nuala; brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, wonderful neighbours and many friends. His remains were removed from Ganley's Funeral to the Church of our Lady of Good Counsel, Loughglynn. Following Funeral Mass, celebrated by Fr. John O'Rourke, PP, Loughglynn and Fr. John Mannion (Galway) on Saturday, May 24th burial took place in Cuiltyboe Cemetery. - Roscommon Herald, 3rd June 2008
