The death occurred suddenly on Wednesday last of Mr Michael Hamnore, Harristown, Castlerea. He was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Mary Ellen, brothers Pat and Pete. The Deceased who was 61 years, worked in Dyar's Bakery, Castlerea for many years with his sister Nello. In his youth he was very involved in sports. He won a juvenile U-15 County Championship medal with Castlerea in 1962 and was also on the juvenile team beaten in the county final of 1961. He won county minor football championship medals in 1963/64/65 and was on the minor team beaten in the county final of 1962. He also won a county U-21 championship medal in 1968. He also was a very handy boxer and boxed with the Castlerea Boxing club. He was vely involved with traditional and Irish music. He played the accordion and drums and for many years. He played with the Castlerea Ceili Band and the Killina Ceili Band. He was very popular and always had the time for the chat. He was also very witty and he will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. His remains were removed from his home on Saturday last to St. Patrick's Church, Castlerea and after 2 p.m. Mass, celebrated by Canon Joe Fitzgerald assisted by Rev. Fr. Michael McManus and Rev Peter Moloney, burial took place in St Joseph's Cemetely. He will be sadly missed by his brothers, Jack and Kelly, sisters, Nello, Anna, Stephanie, Margaret and Brid, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Danny Burke gave an oration at the graveside and Mick Lohan and Frank Jordon, two of his colleagues with the Killina Ceili Band, rendered Irish airs.
