Anthony Cunningham admits Roscommon are keen to avenge their narrow Allianz League first round defeat to Mayo.

The neighbours will renew their rivalry in the Connacht SFC semi-final at Elvery's MacHale Park on Saturday week after the Rossies made light work of Leitrim in Hyde Park yesterday.

"We have a score to settle with Mayo," the Roscommon manager noted in the Irish Examiner.

"They beat us there in the league and we were very close that night. We want to give it a real go. We know how good Mayo are. They are everybody's favourite bar Dublin to win the All-Ireland. They have been the bridesmaids and the best team bar Dublin for the last five years."

The former Galway hurler felt Roscommon's experience counted for a lot against a disappointing Leitrim outfit.

"There was pressure of playing at home and the expectation to win. Sometimes that is hard to handle.

"But the experience over the winter and the last few years means that these players really want to step up. It is a big step-up, but one we are really looking forward to."
