U14 Camogie

The U14 camogie team began their league campaign on Tuesday 7th May with a match against Oran (the County A Champions).  This turned out to be a cracker of a game with the Roscommon Gaels girls on fire and playing the best camogie of the year.  It was a free flowing match displaying all the skills of camogie and the two teams battled it out with Oran going in at half time a point up.  The Gaels girls took confidence from their first half performance and rattled through the next 25 minutes hardly making a mistake.  Emma Hough scored a point from play to level the game and the mentors on the side line had to be contained.  The crowd rallied behind them and the girls fought to the end.  The Gaels were delighted with a draw against Oran who are the best U14 squad in the County.  It goes to show that on any given day we can match up to the best and be counted.  The team were deservedly delighted with their performance and they now proceed to the next game against Four Roads in four roads on Tuesday next 14th May 2019.  Training continues on Saturday 10.30 to 12.  Come and support this team you won’t be disappointed

Minor / Junior and U16 camogie training will continue on Thursday in Lisnamult from 6.30pm to 8p

U10 Hurling

Many thanks to all who attended and supported our U8 & U10 hurling blitz on Saturday morning in Lisnamult. We had a great turnout of approx 160 kids from our own club & neighbouring clubs. Special thanks to coaches for setting up pitches Thursday evening / parents for bringing cakes etc. to catering for our guests / all who helped in the kitchen / our refs (Jason / David / Finn / Emily / Ronan / Eoin / Ciara).

Our boys had plenty of game time across our 2 teams with 3 games each per team. Well done to all!

Training continues Monday @ 6:30.

U12 Football

Well done to our U12’s girls this evening. We played Clann na nGael in Lisnamult. The team fought had and competed all they way until the final whistle. The score board did not go our way today but our team spirit is getting stronger. We will improve, we will compete fiercely when we meet Castlrea. Training continues Wednesday evening.

U14 Football

On Thursday evening our girls travelled to Kiltoom for our 3rd round of the league v St Brigids. We knew going into the game that this was going to be probably the toughest game in our group. It was a Smashing game of football with all skills on display, the lead changing hands once. Roscommon Gaels played a super first half but we spurned a few good goal chances that would have given us a deserved lead at the break and, instead, we trailed by four. We quickly regained the lead after the break and raced ahead by two only to take our foot off the gas and Brigid’s fought their way back, a very late goal giving them a lead we had no time to overcome. There was a great Roscommon Gaels crowd at the game and we were all very disappointed for our team, convinced we should have taken it. Of course we can only congratulate Brigid’s who never lay down. Final Score Roscommon Gaels 6-06 St Brigid’s 5-11. Panel: Caitlin Hannon, Eve McNeill, Emma O’Farrell, Kate Harlow, Ciara Killeen, Sarah Purcell, Emma Hough, Alanna Sutton, Carole Green, Jenny Morris, Ava Mulry 3-0, Zara Fallon, Grace Dwyer 0-1, Shauna Walsh 2-04, Moll Finneran 1-0. Our next game in the Div 1 League is v Pearses on Thursday in Lisnamult.

U14 Football

Roscommon Gaels 5-05 Boyle 2-11

Bank holiday monday 6th june we travelled to boyle to play which we knew was going to be tough to win.  Win/Draw the game we were in the semi final - lose it & we were in a 3 way playoff to get to the semi finals.

We started off great - we controlled the ball & it was quick into john mcguinness who won everything.  3-04 to 0-02 half time in which we play exceptional well but we knew come the 2nd half boyle would come out strong and the did.  They tore into us and we couldn't get the ball past the half way line and eventually they got in the lead.   But our heads didnt' drop and we scored 2 goals in the space of a few mins to get back into the lead & we held on a Great battle in the end. Now we play St Dominics in the Semi final on Thurs 16th May in Knockcroghery @7pm.
