Round 5 of the Allianz football leagues threw up plenty of talking points. Here is our team of the week…

1. Graham Brody (Laois)

Brody kept a clean sheet as the O’Moore County overcame Longford to keep their promotion hopes alive.

 

2. Lee Cullen (Fermanagh)

Cullen and the Ernesiders are unbeaten after five games in Division 2 and promotion to the top flight is very much in their own hands.

 

3. Sean Andy O Ceallaigh (Galway)

O Ceallaigh and his defensive team-mates held Mayo to six points from play in Castlebar on Saturday evening.

 

4. Hugh Pat McGeary (Tyrone)

The versatile McGeary contributed two points to Tyrone’s winning total of 1-15 against Cavan.

 

5. Donal Keogan (Meath)

The Meath joint-captain led by example as the Royals came from behind to claim the spoils at Kildare’s expense in Pairc Tailteann.

6. Paul Murphy (Kerry)

Murphy was one of the Kingdom’s standout performers in their four-point success over Monaghan on home soil.

 

7. Cian O’Sullivan (Dublin)

With two games to go, O’Sullivan and the Dubs are closing in on another league final appearance.

 

8. Ray Mulvey (Leitrim)

Mulvey and Leitrim will be plying their trade in Division 3 next year after making it five wins in-a-row against London.

 

9. Michael Murphy (Donegal)

Donegal’s talisman came off the bench for his seasonal bow and scored 1-2 as Declan Bonner’s side saw off the stern challenge of Armagh.

 

10. Antaine O Laoi (Galway)

Played a pivotal role in the build-up to Danny Cummins’ first-half goal and also raised two white flags against arch rivals Mayo.
 

11. Con O’Callaghan (Dublin)

The talented Cuala clubman led the Roscommon defence a merry dance at times in Dr Hyde Park and finished with 1-1 to his name.

 

12. Peter Harte (Tyrone)

Harte has been the driving force behind the Red Hands' move away from the relegation zone and he scored 1-3 against Cavan.

 

13. Donal O’Hare (Down)

Down moved a step closer to a return to Division 2 and O’Hare found the target with six points against Offaly.

 

14. Tommy Walsh (Kerry)

Kerry made good use of Walsh’s physical presence to create four advanced marks against Monaghan and he converted three of them.

 

15. Luke Connolly (Cork)

The Nemo Rangers man was to the fore, raising five white flags, as Cork scraped over the challenge of Tipperary for a morale-boosting victory.
