Motivational Quotes

The harder you work, the harder it is to surrender.
-- Vince Lombardi

You can't make a great play unless you do it first in practice.
-- Chuck Noll

Never let your head hang down. Never give up and sit down and grieve. Find another way.

Things that hurt, instruct.

Coaching Tips

Always plan sessions in advance.

Always make sure all footballs/sliotars are on the ground or in front of you when you are speaking to the group to achieve full attention.

Keep all instructions short and precise. No rambling, children will lose focus.

Use the IDEA method. (Introduce,Demonstrate,Execute,Attend). A child remembers more of what they see rather than what they hear.

Keep your head up and speak loud and clear to the whole group while using your body language to assert yourself.

Fill your sessions with encouragement. Children will learn more in a positive environment. Always find a way to compliment every child within your group.

If a drill is not working for you - change it!! Have the confidence to say "lets try something different".

Most important - HAVE FUN. If you are having fun that will always transfer to the children which will make for a great training session.

U8 Camogie:Well done to our U8 camogie girls who played in a Camogie Blitz in Four Roads yesterday morning. They did so so well and arr showing great skills. Thank you to Four Roads for hosting. Training continues on Fridays.

U12 Camogie (Eagles):Well done to our U12 camogie girls and Sean our little mascot who defeated Tulsk earlier today.

U16 camogie:  We played Athleague in Lisnamult in the U16 championship.  This was a very one-sided affair with the Gaels scoring a lot of goals in the first half to a single point for Athleague.  Management rested our strongest players in the second half with a view to balancing out the sides.  Our next game is away to Four Roads on Monday 3rdSeptember at 6.30pm.  Players are asked to be at Four Roads pitch at 5.45pm please.

Junior camogie:  Last Tuesday on a very wet evening we played Tulsk in the Junior Camogie 'B' Final in Lisnamult.  We started slow and unfortunately Tulsk capitalised on our early mistakes.  Although it is a 15 a-side competition, Tulsk insisted that they only had 13 players and it only became apparent during the first half that Tulsk had three subs in their dugout.

We went in to the dressing rooms at half time six points down and given the conditions it would have been very easy to give up and hand the game to Tulsk.  We made some changes and summarised the key areas where we needed improvements and went out determined to give it everything in the second half.  However, disaster struck in the first five minutes when Tulsk scored two consecutive goals leaving us with a deficit of 12 points to overcome.  Our girls found themselves having to dig deep then but they found their character and fought hard to claw back the game.  With only minutes to go we managed to bring the deficit back to a single point after a shot at goal skimmed over the bar.  Shortly after, Colleen Kelly struck for a point to level it up but the umpire waved it wide.  The puckout ended up in Tulsks's hands and down the field they went and got the final point to win by two.  There was great support from the Gaels at the match and we'd like to thank you all sincerely for coming out in the rain and for sticking with us all year.  Of course the girls were disappointed but this shouldn't be seen as a big loss since all of our players on the night with the exception of Colleen are U18 and five of the girls who played on the night are U16.  We have performed well this year at this level and it has been good preparation for the minor championship which will be run off in October.

U8 & U10 Football:  Training continues Wednesday Evenings at 6.30pm.

U14 Football: Roscommon Gaels 5-12, Clann na nGael 4-5

Congratulations to our u14 girls who are now through to the County final after securing victory over Clann na nGael in the semi final this evening in Lisnamult. This was a hard fought game with Clann leading for the first half of the game. Goals from Ava Mulry 3, Zara Fallon 1, Penalty from Ava Mulry 1 and points from Claire McNeill 3, Chloe Donoghue 2, Ava Mulry 5 and Ali Byrne 1, Eimear O'Farrell 1 helped us to maintain our lead and secure victory.  Brigid's defeated Croans in the other Division 1 Semi Final we will play Brigid's on the 23rd of September.  Venue to be confirmed.

U16 Football:  U16's continue to train Monday evenings at 7pm in the Hyde.

Junior Football:  Hardluck to our girls who were defeated by Ballinameen today.

U14 Football :Our Div 1 lads had a busy week and showed great spirit to secure wins against Strokestown and Shannon Gaels/Kilmore/St Ronans. We are now through to the playoffs.

Our Reserve lads have a Championship fixture vs St Dominics on Thursday evening 06th Sept in Knockcroghery at 7pm.

Minor Football: Our next game is against St. Dominics in Lisnamult on Thursday 6th September.

Senior Football:  Our Hodson Bay Hotel sponsored senior team were lucky to come away from Enfield on Saturday Evening with a draw. Boyle were leading by 2 Goals at half time.  Roscommon Gaels tightened up in the Second half and ensured the rest of the game was a much closer affair. In fact Roscommon Gaels only got the equaliser in the last second of injury time. Final Score Roscommon Gaels 1-13, Boyle 2-10.

Many thanks to everyone in St Croans for their hospitality on Saturday and for having the pitch in such great condition.

U10 Hurling: Well done to our u10 Hurlers who competed in the Hurling County Blitz, hosted in sunny conditions in Tremane Saturday morning.  Ros Gaels fielded 2 U10 hurling teams, playing 3 games each against teams from Athleague / Tremane and Four Roads. Our hurlers displayed some of the best performances the coaches have seen this year. Well done to all involved!

Training continues for u10 hurlers in Lisnamult Monday at 6:30. More challenges to come in the weeks ahead.

U14 Hurling: U-14 hurling: The semi-finals of the U-14 league have been fixed for Saturday, 29th September. Training takes place, as usual, at 6.15 p.m. on Tuesday in Lisnamult.

Well done to Síofra Hession who played in Croke Park today in the exhibition game during the All Ireland final.
