Sunday's Connacht senior football championship final sees Roscommon and Galway battling it out once again for the right to take home the JJ Nestor Cup. Here's our preview for the game at Dr Hyde Park:

Sunday, June 17th

Roscommon v Galway, Hyde Park, 4pm - RTE

All roads lead to 'The Hyde' on Sunday as Galway look to avenge last year's Connacht final defeat to Roscommon on the Rossies' home turf and tie Mayo for the most amount of JJ Nestor Cups (46) in the process.

This is the third year in-a-row these two will battle it out on the western province's final stage, with the score standing at one a piece, and it's the Tribesmen whom are favourites at 4/9 to claim victory this time round.

Kevin Walsh's side were impressive throughout their return to Division 1 of the National League during the spring, to the point where they danced on the final stage with the Dubs at Croke Park in April. Since then, they've sent Mayo into the qualifiers off the back of a workmanlike display in Castlebar and put up a whopping 4-24 against Sligo last time out.

As for Kevin McStay's Roscommon side, they made an immediate return to Division 1 in the spring and have also got a run out at headquarters, where they impressed in a shoot-out against Cavan, prior to waiting in the wings for eight weeks and having no fuss at all against Leitrim to book their slot here.

Now the two sides meet again and there's no shortage of incentive (this isn't the FBD League final), with a provincial championship crown and, for the first time ever, a place in the Super 8s on the line.

It has all the right ingredients for a cracker.

Verdict: Galway
