During the week, our victorious Intermediate team & management paid a visit to the local national schools with the Mick Keane Memorial Cup, Roscommon Intermediate Jamsie Murray Cup & Connacht Intermediate Gene Byrne Cup. Thanks to all the players and management who gave up their free time to pay these visits.

 

The Club held its annual Underage Medal Presentation in Cloonfad Community Centre to celebrate the past GAA season for the underage teams from U8 - Minor boys and girls team. On the night, the various successful teams were presented with their County Medals by Roscommon Ladies Player Helena Cummins & Joanne Cregg and Intermediate Players Conor Hussey & Cian Ruane. Sincere thanks to all who made this night successful for the children. Special thanks to Roscommon GPO Pauric Mitchell for attending this event.

 

Our Intermediate Men's team hold a fundraising Race Night in Campbells Bar, Ballinlough on Friday 29th December at 9:30 p.m. Please support this by purchasing a horse or sponsoring a race. If you wish to do so contact any Club officer or Intermediate Player.

 

Ladies Board AGM Saturday 16th Dec at 19:00 in Cloonfad Community Centre. All players, managers and parents are invited to attend.

 

The club was delighted to hear the news that we have been awarded €5,000 from the Sports Capital Grant for renovations of the dugouts and an electronic scoreboard.

 

The club was saddened to hear of the untimely passing of
Joe Bailey, A talented footballer growing up representing Granlahan primary school, Ballyhaunis community school and with the club winning a county Under 12 division 1 medal with the club in 1981 defeating Padraig Pearses after at a replay at Dr. Hyde Park. Joe won a Fr.Manning cup medal playing with Roscommon under 16 team in 1985 defeating Longford in the final. In 1987, Joe made his championship debut at corner forward alongside his brother Tommy in the senior club championship against Elphin before emigrating to Northampton, England. The club extends its deepest sympathy to the Bailey family, Ballybane, Ballinlough, on the sad passing of Joe. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
