U15 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP RD 2

Na Fianna U15 Footballers went down to their second defeat of the Championship as they lost out to Rhode Óg in Rhode in Rd 2 last Wednesday evening on a scoreline of 10-10 to 2-07. While the final scoreline may appear to be a one sided affair this was not the case as in the first half the sides competed well against one another. Na Fianna lead going into stoppage time 1-05 to 0-07 with the goal scored on 23mins when Rory Grehan’s shot following a great solo run upfield came off the crossbar into the hands of Conor Bracken in the square who struck his shot past the keeper to the net. Then in injury time Rhode struck for 2 goals to lead at the break 2-07 to  1-05. Na Fianna needed a good start to the second half but it did not come their way as Rhode re-started the second half as they finished the first half scoring their third goal straight from the throw in and thereafter there was no way back for Na Fianna as Rhode powered on adding a further 7-03 to Na Fianna’s 1-02 with the Na Fianna goal again scored by Na Fianna’s best player on the night Conor Bracken. The club would like to wish a speedy recovery to Tadhg Clear who suffered a nasty arm injury in the game.
