Intermediate Football Championship
Daingean 1-15 Ferbane 1-12
Daingean progressed to the quarter finals of the intermediate championship last Friday evening after staging a remarkable comeback against Ferbane in Clara. Daingean trailed by 8 points with just over 20 minutes remaining. The talk amongst the Daingean following on the sideline had turned to potential opponents in a likely relegation playoff rather than quarter final opponents. Things looked like they could not get any worse when Jamie Hayes hobbled off with an ankle injury. At this stage the score was 1-9 to 4 points in Ferbane's favour and it could have been so much worse only for the heroics of Daingean stopper Conan Curley. Alan McEvoy got Daingean's first score of the second half with a well taken point. Charlie Hayes was then introduced for the injured Jamie. His first task was to point a free which reduced the deficit to 6 points. Cathal Egan was now beginning to dominate at midfield and the Daingean forwards were starting to defend from the front with David Feely and Charlie Hayes leading by example. A Ferbane point increased their lead to 7 points once again. But then came 3 Daingean scores in a row. First up was Alan McEvoy with his third point of the game in what was one of his best performances in a Daingean shirt. David Feely who worked tirelessly throughout reduced the deficit to 5 and substitute Tom Fay who was excellent when introduced put 4 between them. Daingean were now playing with real passion, belief and determination, all of which were missing in the first half. Then came a Daingean goal which would put the minimum between the sides. An interception by Stephen Burns started a move that involved Tim Spellman which eventually forced a save from the Ferbane keeper but Jake Naughton was quickest to react and find the net. The sides then traded scores and it was all square with 5 minutes remaining. Super sub Charlie Hayes would prove to be the saviour for Daingean however as he registered the final 3 scores of the game which resulted in a personal contribution of 6 points. There were jubilant scenes as the final whistle was blown and Daingean can now look forward to a quarter final outing with their intermediate status secured. Daingean outscored their opponents by 1-11 to 4 points in the second half with substitutes Hayes and Fay contributing 8 points to this total.

Mini Maroons Summer League Round 2
The Fidget Spinners 3-05 Mini Maroon Baboons 4-02.
This second round match was a cracker and to be fair neither team deserved to lose. There was some great end to end football throughout. The Baboons got off to a flyer with Cormac Whittle, Paddy Burns and Finn Longworth leading the way with some great scores. As the game went on the Fidget Spinners through Finn Byrne, Rachel Donagher and Shane Lawless got on a lot more ball and chipped away at the deficit to set it up for a very exciting finish. Neither team could get the winning score and a draw was a fair result.
The #tag Maroons 10-04 Daingean Supremes 12-07.
It looked like the #tag's were going to take the spoils early on as Tyler Evans set up Tiarnan Marsh for a goal which he quickly followed up with another a few seconds later. Cori McCusker played an important link in the half forward position and supplied plenty of inside ball. Katie Egan saved many a blush at the other end with some super saves. After the initial shellshock the Supremes came into their stride. A goal from Jack Kelly left them in front 6-03 to 4-02 at the break. Cori opened up the scoring in 2nd half for the #tags and after a stern fight from them all including a point from Deasun McNamee, goals from Tiarnan, Tyler and Fiadh Connolly there was just no stopping the goal machine Jack Kelly for the Supremes. The Supremes benefited from points by Eabha McGuinness, Lauren Farrell and Brendan O'Reilly in what was a thriller of a game.
Daingean Marvels 4-16 Daingean Warriors 3-8.
Another great game of football on a very windy evening saw the Marvels come out on top against the Warriors. The Warriors got off to a great start with Cian O'Reilly on top form and he was well supported by Andrea Ryan, Cormac Whittle and Oisin Delaney at the back. This game was very close with only a point separating the teams at half time. However, in the second half the Marvels got into their stride and Regan Kelly, Aaron Longworth and Jack Connolly kicked some lovely scores to pull away to win.
Daingean Rebels 8-03 Mini Legends 3-11
The second Senior game of the evening was a tight enough affair despite the 7 point gap as the loosing Legends team registered on the scoreboard 14 times while the victors registered 11 scores. Jack Hanlon for the legends was hugely industrious scoring 2-07 from play and often found himself double marked by the clever Rebels. Aided by the wind Shane Marsden added to the Legends tally with some of the finest scores from the right boot from distance, but the Rebels knew instinctively that goals were going to be the deciding factor on a windy evening with Alex Egan leading by example. James Kelly, Shane Murphy and Adam Nolan all found the twines on more than 1 occasion.
Thanks to the managers, linesmen, umpires, referees and the people who set up the pitches. Many thanks once again to all of our sponsors. Round 3 will take place in the field on Wednesdayevening commencing at 6:30pm sharp.
