Camogs pipped by Tipp
20 July 2012
Offaly had to settle for second best against neighbours Tipperary after a cracking All-Ireland senior camogie championship round four encounter at St. Brendan's Park last weekend.
Ultimately, a late Caoimhe Maher goal proved decisive, but Offaly had a chance to win the game in stoppage-time when Elaine Dermody was taken down for a penalty. However, Siobhan Flannery's shot was saved by Jill Horan, and Tipp held on for a 1-12 to 1-10 dramatic victory.
A disappointed Offaly manager John Troy said afterwards: "I thought we were in a good position at half-time, but basically we just weren't creative enough with the ball in the second half. We probably should have put them away, but the longer you leave teams in it, the bigger chance you have of losing and that's what happened here."
