Edenderry will field an adult hurling team for the first time in a number of years in 2020.
The club confirmed this week that it will field a junior hurling team this year and hopes that it will help revive hurling in the east Offaly area.
Edenderry is a football stronghold, but the local club enjoyed hurling success in the U16 grade in 2016 and '17, and also contested a minor 'B' final in 2017. Edenderry was represented by Cillian Farrell when Offaly last won the All-Ireland SHC title in 1998.
Cormac Nolan, James Merrick and Liam Kennedy will train the team and will happily accommodate players from surrounding clubs who don't have hurling teams.
