131st Rhode Rhode GAA Club AGM 2019

The 131st  Rhode GAA Club took place on Friday night  last with over 40 members in Attendance.  Chairman John Kilmurray opened the meeting by welcoming all in attendance. Fr,Greg opened with a payer  which included  all  members  especially those who died during the year.  The minutes of last years Agm were read out and then the Club Constitution  was passed it was down to the various reports where Secretary , Treasurer ,  Chairman and Minor Chairman gave excellent and detailed reports on the year gone.

in his first AGM address Chairman John Kilmurray gave an excellent report highlighting that this year while we may not have succeeded on the pitch we have made many notable achievements off it in regards of fundraising and club finances and our plans to further our development relating to the building of dressing rooms in which progress is been made and hopes that we as a club have brought everyone together as a community. A notable highlight was the rise in the members of the club. Currently have 450 members of Rhode GAA club. 

Minor club chairman Stephen Darby  gave an excellent report where he outline many highlights of the year  from all  eight of our under-age teams most especially the U'13 footballers winning the championship. He gave a special thanks to Croi Laighean Credit Union for their continuous sponsorship of our under-age teams. He praised minor secretary Tracey Murphy for all her hard work. Finishing he said how great it was to see both Club President Paddy McCormack & Patron Joe Kellaghan in attendance  while after fighting ill health.,

It was put to the floor that the membership prices would increase slightly and it was passed by all. 

 

Joe Malone praised the financial report and work that has got us in good place and all the work been done, Spoke of the club holding a health screening  as like a few years back.

 

Paschal kellaghan thanked the club,supporters, members for the great support to the Senior  management team and praised all involved in that management team for their work over the last few years as well as wishing Malachy McNulty all the best in the coming year

 

Bill Glennon noted the praise that referee's had of our pitches and facilities saying that a massive credit must go to the Groundsmen of the club. Chairman John Kilmuuray also praised the way our grounds are kept and gave a massive thanks to Paul McNamme & Robert Kellaghan. 

 

PRO Robert Kellaghan read a letter of thanks from the family of Paudge leavy, Robert also spoke and praised the great work done by all on the committee and the sense of community and togetherness over the year. He highlighted the U13 footballers winning the championship as been his favorite moment of 2019. He thanked his Assistants Paul Hickey and John Glennon for their fantastic work. Wished John all the best ad hoped to see him out and about soon. In finishing Robert thanked all our Offaly press for their continuous support in getting the clubs message across. 

 

Minor Club secretary  gave a personal note of thanks to Stephen Darby for the great work he did as minor chairman and looked forward to working with Ger Noonan as he takes over from Stephen. 

 

Chairman John Kilmurray Closed the meeting and wished everyone a happy Christmas and New year. 

 

 

Rhode U'13 County Football Champions Presentation    

 

A Truly fantastic evening was held in Rhode Community Centre yesterday where our U13 footballers received their Peter McGlynn London Tournament and Offaly County championship medals from Ruairi McNamee  There was also well deserved presentations made to the U'13 Management team. Family, players, management and members of the club committee sat down to a wonderful meal which was then followed by the presentation where there was a massive crowd in attendance. outgoing Minor Chairman Stephen Darby spoke of the pride the team had brought to the club and hopes they can bring more success to the club and wished to thank all sponsors most especially Craoi Laighean Credit Union who sponsor our under-age teams.. A great evening was had by all and will live long in the memories of these young stars. 

A massive thanks to all who made it a massive success on the day most especially Ray & Tina Dempsey for the fantastic food, All who helped setup, Rhode Community centre for the use of the hall, Kevin Cox for the PA system, Minor Club secretary Tracey Murphy for her hard work in organizing a great event.

There was no winner of the Rhode GAA Lotto Draw that took place on the 2nd of December for a Jackpot of €8,000.  The numbers drawn were 13 16 22 29.  The club would like to thank all those who supported the draw and thanks to O’Toole’s for the use of their premises and for their help and cooperation.  The following matched three numbers and received €50 each.
