Offaly Senior Football Final 

 

Very best of luck to Rhode Senior Footballer's and Management team in the County final on Sunday at 3:30pm against Ferbane in Bord Na Mona O'Connor Park Tullamore.

Very best of luck to our U'9s player's who  will be taking part in the half -time blitz on county final day . Its' a wonderful experience from the young kids.  

 

 

 

Meet & Greet Breakfast Morning  

 

A truly great morning was had in Rhode Community Centre on Sunday morning with a massive crowd in attendance. You could feel the excitement building  for the county final next Sunday. We are so lucky to have such fantastic supporters who always get behind our teams events. As always our Senior players & management were on hand to serve the breakfasts to our wonderful supporters  with the younger supporters only to delighted to receive their breakfasts from their idols. A special word of thanks to  our wonderful supporters who never let the club down , Ray & Tina Dempsey for the food, All the fantastic committee both men and ladies in the kitchens and washing up. our senior team and players, all our local people who baked lovely bread and scones . Rhode community centre for the use of the hall and facilities , Declan cox for the PA system and most especially 

Croí Laighean credit union Edenderry for their generous sponsorship.  It will be a morning to remember Roll on County Final Day. 

 

 

U'13 A Semi Final 

 

Our U13s boys team traveled to Geashill on Sunday evening to compete in the Championship 'A' Semi-Final. Competing against a very strong Kilcormac Killoughey, Rhode went in at half time leading on a scoreline of 6 points to 1 goal and 1 point. Rhode maintained their lead through the second half and withheld a lot of pressure from the opposition to win the game on a final score of 2-11 to 2-5. Congratulations to the boys and management team who now progress to the County Final against St. Ryanagh's. Date and Venue to be confirmed.

Meet & Greet 

 

A great occasion was had last  Friday night in Fr.Dowling Park when our underage players and players from Rhode Ladies joined with the greater community to wish our Senior team the very best of luck  in the county football championship final which takes place next weekend. It is a huge occasion for our young children to meet with their heroes and shake their hands . We really appreciate the time the players and management take out for their hectic schedule. We would like to thank all those involved in organising this evening and also  Croi Laighean credit union Edenderry for their continued support of our club especially our young players . Thank you to those in the club that supplied refreshments for everyone, Thanks also to Anna Mai Walsh for her beautiful rendition of our National Anthem and to Paraic Sullivan in providing these great photos, Paraic is a crucial part of the senior team and we are indebted to him . Lastly best of luck next Sunday to this great team we will be there all the way .

 

 

Festival of Football 

 

On Sunday afternoon our Rhode warriors. U'7s & U'9s came together for an end of year festival of football in Fr.Dowling Park. A great day was had by all most especially our under-age footballer's who were treated  to Pizza and chips and other goodies after their matches. A massive thank you to all the coaches for their massive work not just yesterday but throughout the year. Thanks also to the parents without whose help none of it would be possible. On the day Rhode warriors s were supplied with a box of Bally Bryan Farm Apple juice kindly sponsored by Rosemarie Jenkison  thanks a million Rosemarie . Also special thanks  to Croi Laighean credit union Edenderry for their continued support of our under-age club as they gave the kids a special credit union pack. 

 

 

1969 winning County champions 50th Anniversary Celebrations 

 

On Saturday October 19th we will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of winning the 1969 Championship where they beat Erin Rovers in a replay. Mass will be celebrated for all deceased members of Rhode GAA at Saturday evening mass at 6;45pm followed by presentations to the Team of 1969 at 8:30pm in Killens Lounge.

Offaly and Rhode Legend Seamus Darby has released his Autobiography

About That Goal a few weeks ago and can be purchased in our local shops. He is having a number of book launches with the final one in Rhode.

Ladies Leinster Championship 

 

Hard Luck to Rhode Ladies Intermediate footballers who were defeated in the Leinster Quarter Final on Saturday afternoon last.

Lotto 

There was no winner of the Rhode GAA Lotto Draw that took place on the 1st of October for a Jackpot of €6,200.  The numbers drawn were 4 9 23 29.  The club would like to thank all those who supported the draw and thanks to O’Toole’s for the use of their premises and for their help and cooperation.  The following matched three numbers and received €200.
