Na Fianna club notes

U15 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Na Fianna U15 Footballers completed the group stage of the Championship with defeat to St Rynaghs in their final group match last Wednesday evening in Geashill on a scoreline of 7-10 to 0-07. The result sees Na Fianna end the group with 4 points in joint 4th place alongside Ballinamere/Durrow and Rhode Og but both of these sides still have 1more game each remaining. St Rynaghs stormed out of the blocks as they opened the scoring with 2-02 to nil inside the first 5 mins but then Na Fianna steadied the ship restricting St Rynaghs to just a further 2-02 and scoring 5 points of their own over the remaining 25 mins of the half leaving it 4-04 to 0-05. The opening 10 mins of the second half saw just 1 score a point for Na Fianna but the remaining 20 mins saw St Rynaghs add a further 3-06 to Na Fianna’s 1-01 with the Na Fianna goal scored by Dylan Cahill 2 mins from the end.

MINOR A FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Na Fianna Minor Football No 1 Team made it 3 wins out of 3 in the A Championship to maintain their 100% record against Ballinamere / Durrow last Friday evening in Geashill on a scoreline of 3-16 to 3-05. In the first half Na Fianna were on fire and could do no wrong as they blitzed B/D with a weave of attack after attack scoring 3-12 to 1-00 with the B/D goal coming just in the final minute. Na Fianna struck their first goal on 9 mins when Jacob Beatty gave an audacious back flick up into the hands of Barry Crombie in the square who blasted his shot to the net, the second goal a super volley from outside the square by Ryan Dunne to the top left corner of the net and the third goal on 24 mins when a shot came off the post to the in-running Jacob Beatty who coolly slotted it home. The goal for B/D just before the break got them going and despite Na Fianna getting the opening point of the second half within 5 mins of the re-start B/D struck 2-02 to give themselves a slight chance of a comeback but thereafter the game filtered out with both sides adding just 3 further points apiece.
