Ballycumber GAA Club notes

August 13, 2019

Tullamore Court Hotel Junior B Football Group 1 Play Off.

Ballycumber    1---9    Raheen    0—11.

Ballycumber won this Play Off game after a titanic struggle with Raheen at home in Ballycumber on Tuesday evening. The home side got off to a good start with a point from a 45 by John Corcoran and a point from a free by Conrad Casey. Raheen replied with a point from play. John Corcoran received a perfect pass from Corey Tyrell and he put the ball in the back of the net. The visitors scored three points in a row to leave a point between the sides. John Corcoran scored two points from frees and Conrad Casey added one from play. Raheen finished the half with a point from a free and another from play.

Although playing against the breeze Raheen dominated the early exchanges of the second half and scored four points. John Corcoran pointed another 45 before Raheen got their last score of the game. Conrad Casey scored three points with one from a free and the other two scored while under severe pressure from the visiting backs. There was some heroic defending by the Ballycumber backs and a brave save by Peter Flynn to prevent Raheen adding to their total.

Ballycumber will now play Shamrocks on Wednesday in Mucklagh to decide who tops the group and goes straight to the semi final.
