Tullamore Court Hotel Junior B Football Championship.

Ballycumber 2---11   Gracefield 0—15.

Ballycumber gained two more valuable points in the Championship with a hard earned victory over a very good Gracefield team on Sunday in Ballycumber. The visitors opened the scoring with a point to which Mel Guinan replied with a similar score. Andrew Grennan received a pass from Fergal Daly and drove the ball to the back of the net. Paul Kelly added a point before Gracefield scored four points in a row. Andrew Grennan scored a point after another good run. Again Gracefield added four points without reply to leave the half time score at 1—3 to 0- 9. Mel and Bosco Guinan added points before the visitors got their first score of the second half. Shaun Creevy scored a point after a long run and Gracefield came back up the pitch and added two points from play. A good passing movement by the home side put Mel Guinan clear on goals and he drove an unstoppable shot to the corner of the net and he quickly added a point. Fergal Daly got his first point of the game after being unsuccessful with a few shots on goal. Gracefield replied with a point from a free. Once again Mel Guinan found the target with a well struck shot for a point and relentless pressure by Gracefield was only rewarded with a point from play to leave the home side winners by two points.

Ballycumber’s remaining game in the group is against Shamrocks.

There are a few soldiers that information is difficult to find about them. If anyone has any information on Joe Egan who was attached to the East Lancashire Regiment and P. King of the Irish Guards and William Rosney of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers please pass it on to any member of the Group.
