U17 Football Championship: Tullamore 0-12 Na Fianna 1-7.

Tullamore U17s had a narrow win over local rivals Na Fianna in the second round of the U17 football championship on Wed 1st  August in O'Brien Park.  A very good attendance of supporters was treated to a hard-hitting display of real championship football.  Tullamore did well to lead by 0-6 to 0-4 at half-time in a first half dominated by both defences.  Na Fianna hit the crossbar near the start of the second half, struck for goal in the 43rd minute and seemed to have pushed for home when they led 1-7 to 0-8 with ten minutes remaining.  However, Tullamore finished strongly with two pointed frees from Jay Sheerin (who shipped a serious amount of close attention throughout the match) and one coolly taken free from Corey White.  Sheerin had an excellent match, finishing with a total of six points, five from frees.  Luke Egan finished the scoring on the night with a fine point.Tullamore's last group game is at 7.00 p.m. 29th August against St Broughan's in Bracknagh.
