Offaly's Johnny Moloney has left the squad, but manager Stephen Wallace has revealed that the door has been left open for his return.

Moloney had been an integral part of the side under Pat Flanagan, but having returned from injury earlier this year, the Tullamore clubman has seen little game time.

Wallace told the Midland Tribune that there is no doubt that Moloney would be welcomed back into the squad should he chose to come back.

"We had a good chat, he had a couple of issues and I gave him some time to see where he is at and that the door was always open but something happened where you can take it as confirmed that Johnny Moloney won't be joining the panel for the foreseeable future," said Wallace.

"That's not to say he won't comeback at some stage. He is a good lad and a damn fine footballer. He has had a bad run with injuries and he broke his finger training with us over Christmas, he had a sickness. Maybe going back to John Rouse and playing a bit of football with Tullamore might reinvigorate him. He has a big future ahead of him in the Offaly jersey."

This weekend, Offaly take on Division Three table toppers Armagh in a double headers with the hurlers at O'Connor Park on Sunday afternoon.
