Stewartstown demonstrated great grit and determination to get the better of a fancied Donaghmoyne side to book their place in the semi-finals of the U21 Paddy McLarnon Cup at Creggan Sunday afternoon.

With ten minutes left to play the Monaghan champions had drawn level and looked to have all the momentum but that's when Stewartstown really stood tall to finish the game in style. Dan Lowe was awarded man of the match after finishing with an impressive 1-7 to his name with a number of those scores coming straight out of the top drawer. This was by no means a one man performance though with every Harps player doing their bit.

Team captain Conor Quinn led by example throughout with an energetic display that saw him cover every blade of grass and it was he who came up with an inspirational point to nudge his side back in front after their opponents had drawn level. Mary Rooney, Tiernan Rush, James Lowe, Macaulay Quinn and Shea Burke were others to the fore for the winners. With twelve minutes to go both sides were reduced to fourteen men when Stewartstown's Shay O'Neill and Donaghmoyne's Mikey Monaghan were both straight red carded.

The game was in the melting pot at that stage but that's when Stewartstown took control. Quinn charged forward to score from distance with the outside of his boot before Lowe hit the score of the game, an outstanding effort from out on the left wing despite being off balance. Stewartstown had the bit between their teeth now and they closed the game out with scores from Jason Park, Lowe and Macaulay Quinn for a superb victory.
