Juvenile Presentation: Our Annual Juvenile Presentation takes place this Sunday. This day is to celebrate with the parents and children our year of 2019. Although achieving no success in 2019 the club has made progress and it is felt that success is just around the corner. This Sunday is going to be a historic and honourable day for the club as we are going to have Uachtaran Cumann Luthcleas Gael John Horan  in attendance alongside the Sigerson Cup. which was won this year by DCU with our senior player Michael Bannigan playing a vital role in their success.  Can players and parents arrive for 4.30pm where they can also register for 2020 which will coincide with Summer Camp registration as well.  It is definitely one day not to be missed.

 

Annual Dinner Dance: Our Annual Dinner Dance takes place on Saturday week the 22nd of February. Guests of Honour include the successful 2000 Treanor Cup Minor Side. A Few facts on this team are as follows the management team that year was PJ Forde, John Joe Gorman, Dermot Hamill & John Hamilton. The Captain of the team was Seamus Deery who later went on to become County Minor player of the year that year. Some of our present day Senior players were called in the panel that year i.e. Lee Conlan & Edmond Mc Ardle and this great team played the semi final and final within 3 days of each other.  I will have some more  interesting facts about the team in next weeks issue.

Hall of Fame Recipients: Also Guests of Honour at the Annual Dinner Dance are the Hall of Fame Recipients the 3 people nominated this year have played an integral part in our club on and off the field for a long number of years. Firstly achieving success in the 1970's Championship winning teams and then serving in the management roles of the team and as administrators in our club. The 3 men chosen are Pat Mc Cabe, Francis Clerkin & John Joe Gorman 3 worthy recipients.

Finally the player of the year awards at Senior, Reserve, U19 & U17 and special recognition awards to David Shevlin with his success with Louth Ladies winning the All Ireland in 2019 and Michael Bannigan success with DCU wining the Sigerson Cup in 2020. Music is by Kickstart and with a lot of presentations to get through Food will be served at 9pm sharp with Admission at €15.

 

Lotto: The Lotto was held on Sunday night last the numbers drawn out were 10,24,27 & 28 there was no winner

Seniors: The Seniors played in Round 2 of the Ulster Junior Club League on Friday night last against Drumragh Sarsfields and came away with a 1 point victory on a score line of 0-09 to 1-05. In conditions better suited to " ducks" the sides were level at 0-5 to 1-2 at half time. In the second half the sides were level throughout until injury time when Aughnamullen scored a point to go 1 in front and they held out for victory. Next game is this Sunday the 16th of February away to Templeport ( Co Cavan) with an 11am throw in.

 

Junior Championship:  The Draw for the Junior Championship was held on Monday night last where Aughnamullen were drawn out to play Aghabog in the Preliminary Round

 

Membership: Membership this year are as follows Adult Non Playing member €30, Family €55(2 Adults from 1 Family), Adult Player Over 18 €50, Adult Player Over 17 but U18 €30, Social Membership €15 - it is compulsory that anyone using the Walking Track to pay the Social Membership if they not wish to become Full Members of the Club. Anyone wishing to pay their membership either as a Full Member or Social Member to contact Rosemary Johnston on 0872862074 as soon as possible thank you.

 

Congratulations: Congratulations is extended to John & Rachel Carey on the birth of a baby girl recently. To David & Colleen Shevlin on the birth of a baby boy recently. To Michaela Hamilton & Declan Mc Cormick who got engaged recently and Aine Duffy & JP Mc Quillan who also got engaged recently. Also to Seamus Courtney who recently celebrated his 30th Birthday party knowing Seamus he is still celebrating it.

 

Sympathy: Sympathy is extended to Daughter Anna Mooney, Son in Law Brendan, Grandchildren Kieran & Linda and their extended families, Sister in law Sheila Keenan & extended Keenan Family on the death of Nan Duffy Creeve may god have mercy on her soul. To the families and friends of the late Rose Mc Mahon formerly Duncan Creeve who died recently may god have mercy on her soul.

 

County Football Scene: Best wishes is extended to Tiernan Duffy, Aaron Mc Gee & County U20 panel who play in the Ulster U20 Championship this Saturday away to Donegal in Ballybofey at 2pm. Also well done to Michael Bannigan & the County Seniors who drew with Dublin on Saturday evening last. Going up the road last Saturday night supporters felt any result against Dublin would be brilliant however after the game it felt it was one which was left behind so its onwards and upwards. Next game is on Sunday 23rd February at home to Mayo in Clones at 2pm so best wishes to all concerned.

 

Schools Football: Hard luck is extended to Our Ladys Secondary School and especially our representatives i.e. Shay Duffy, Sean Hamill, Jason Duffy, Martin Sheridan & Adam Blanche which were defeated in the McLarnon Cup against St Pauls Bessbrook on Friday last. Also to Our Ladys Girls team and club representatives ie Sarah Mc Brien, Erin Hamill & Maria Duffy who were defeated in the Ulster Final by Loreto College Cavan. Best wishes is extended to Ballybay Commmunity College who play Baileborough Community College in the Final of the Faul Cup on Monday 24th February and especially our club representatives i.e. Ryan Johnston, Aaron Hamilton, Pearse Mc Mahon & Killian Mc Geough.

First Communion/ Confirmation: Bookings for Confirmation on the 14th March are now full however anyone wishing to look for packages for First Holy Communion on the 9th May can contact Rosemary Johnston on 0872862074 or the Social Centre on 0429745626 after 8pm

 

Ireland Lights Up: It's that time of year again folks when Aughnamullen and hundreds of other Clubs all over Ireland light up their facilities and invite all the community to take part in one of the healthiest activities known to mankind namely walking. We invite the community of Aughnamullen, young and old, male and female to come along to Sarsfield Park anytime between 7 and 9pm on Thursday nights  and walk a distance that you are comfortable with.
