Breakfast Morning: The Club are organising a breakfast morning this coming Sunday the 9th of June serving from 8am - 1pm. Why not come up to Aughnamullen where you will be served a delicious and hearty breakfast and then off to Clones to watch the Farney Army play Fermanagh in Round 1 of the All Ireland Qualifiers. Reunion Night: Our Reunion Night for our 2 successful teams of 1979 & 1993 had their reunion night on Sunday night last. On the night it was a great success with many stories told about their exploits on their journey to success. The Club would like to thank all the players who turned up on the night some men who had been seen in the locality for a number of years and it was great to meet up with these men and a special word of thanks to the managers of those teams Lornie Duffy who gave a wonderful speech about the 1979 team and also to John Hamilton who also spoke very fondly of the 1993 success and who was also instrumental in the organising of the event. Also special thanks to all who helped out with serving of food organising trophies etc. A great idea and a great night was had by all.
Fundraising Draw: As you maybe aware the club are running a fundraising draw this year with proceeds going towards the development of a new training field adjacent to the ones that are presently being used. Tickets for our draw cost €20 each or 3 for €50. Prizes are as follows Top prize of €5000 followed by Holiday to Europe, Tickets and overnight stay at an Ireland Rugby International and also ticket and overnight stay to a Manchester United Premier League game and also overnight stay at the Allingham Hotel Bundoran and the club would sincerely like to thank the following people who have sponsored towards our fundraising draw i.e. Nally Brothers Ltd, Lough Egish Motor Factors, Tusker Ltd, Ward Consultancy Services Ballybay, Platinum Tanks, Mourne Shooting Range, Mc Elvaney Waste & Recycling & Dignams Castleblayney. Many thanks to all the people who have bought tickets from inside our parish and outside our parish. Also many thanks to all those who have sold tickets however there is a need for more help to make sure the draw is a success so we are calling on our Senior players, parents of our juvenile players, supporters etc to come out and help with the draw and make it a success that it can be.
Seniors: The Seniors play in round 8 of the Intermediate League on Friday night next(tomorrow night) when they play Tyholland at home at 8pm. Best wishes to the team and management
Reserves: The Reserves played Latton at home on Wednesday last when they were well beaten on a score line of 3-11 to 1-08. This was a game which never got going and they were well behind at half time losing by 2-10 to 1-01. In the second half it was better and they outscored their opponents by 0-7 to 1-01 but in the end were defeated by the better outfit. Next game is on Sunday 16th June away to Monaghan Harps
Under 13: The Under 13 team played their final game in the league on Saturday last when they defeated Tyholland on a score line of 7-15 to 2-08
Under 11: The Under 11 team play in the Spring League Finals this Saturday at 9.30am against Clontibret in Cloghan. Best wishes to team and management.
Summer Camp: Our Annual Aughnamullen Summer Camp is set to take place at the beginning of August. Anyone available to help out to contact Paddy Murtagh on 0872679471 or Angela Geoghegan Duffy on 0861012243 for further details.
Ladies: Our girls team had a number of victories recently. The Under 12 team had a good away win over Carrickmacross on Friday night last and they now play Latton at home on Friday evening next at 6.30pm. The Under 14 Ladies had a good win over Donaghmoyne on Monday last winning by 3-10 to 3-05 and they now play Inniskeen at home on Monday 10th June at 6.45pm. Best wishes to both teams. On behalf of the Ladies club would like to wish all players all the best in the upcoming Leaving & Junior Cert Exams.
Congratulations: Congratulations is extended to Senior player with our Club Stephen Ward & Annemarie King Doohamlet who got engaged recently. Also to Chris Forde & Shauna Mc Mahon who got engaged recently.
Sympathy: Sympathy is extended to the Murnaghan Family, Mc Caul Family & Leanagh Family on the death of Helen Murnaghan Dunaree who died recently. May god have mercy on her soul. To the Duffy Family Carrickaduff & extended Duffy Family on the death of Kathleen Campbell Castleblayney may god have mercy on her soul. Parish Tractor Run: The Parish Tractor Run has been set aside for Sunday 21st July. This is a wonderful occasion for the parish and all support is needed to make it a success again this year.
