Corduff club notes

December 18, 2018

Christmas Greetings: Corduff Gaels would like to extend a very Happy and Peaceful Christmas and New Year to all our members young and old, to all our memtors, players, sponsors and supporters in the Corduff / Raferagh Community and beyond. In 2018 we reflected on 50 years of GAA in the club and look forward to creating more history in 2019.

50th Anniversary Gala Ball. Preparations are in full swing for the 50th Anniversary Gala Ball on the 19th January 2019 in The Nuremore Hotel. This promises to be a wonderful celebration of  the last 5 decades of the Corduff Gaels club since its revival in 1968. Special guests on the night will be Conor McManus, Peter Cavanagh and Bernard Brogan with Corduff’s legend Paddy Connolly MC for the event. This is a black tie event with dinner served at 8:30pm and then dance the night away to The Smokin Jokers. It will certainly be a memorable occasion in the history of the club and too good to miss. Tickets are currently on sale so contact any committee member for more details.

Monaghan GAA Volunteer & Appreciation Scheme 2018: On Thursday night last Monaghan GAA held its  Volunteer & Appreciation Awards night. Monaghan GAA is leading the way with this event which was their second of its kind to highlight the exceptional contribution volunteers make to their club and community. Volunteers are the life and soul of the GAA on a daily basis and each club in the county nominated a volunteer to receive this award. Corduff Gaels nominated Paddy Hand . Paddy is a loyal and dedicated club member and a passionate volunteer. Raising funds for the club is a difficult process but thankfully with people like Paddy in the club willing to commit himself and always on hand to help out with the financial affairs and assist with fundraisers is a great benefit. Paddy helps to promote and sell our yearly lotto tickets and each week sells the lotto. He is also involved with our juvenile teams. Paddy will always be seen on the side line providing encouragement and support to all our young players. Paddy is a vital member of Corduff GAA club and the club was delighted to nominate him for this award. Congratulations Paddy!

Christmas Gift Ideas: Not sure what to buy a Monaghan GAA fan for Christmas?? Problem solved – the Monaghan GAA Yearbook is currently on sale retailing at €10. Relive the wonderful championship summer when both the county minor and senior teams reached the All-Ireland semi-finals which of course will be of special interest to Corduff fans. And for the first year ever there is also a Monaghan GAA calendar which is a photographic journey through 2018 , more memories to cherish.
