New Walking Track

The walking track is almost ready for use with the juvenile players and their parents getting a sneak preview on Monday night last. Over 100 children and adults got the first run around it and it was a great sight to see the lights lit and people buzzing in all directions.   It will be open to the public from 3pm on Sunday and hopefully will be a great asset to our club and community. Great  thanks is due to the many people who worked hard to bring it to fruition from planning, to grants, to fundraising and the diligent work of local contractors, Noel and Benny Craven along with the many volunteers who helped along the way. We would like to acknowledge the assistance of Monaghan Local Action Group (LAG), Monaghan Integrated Development, Monaghan County Council, the Minister and Department of Rural and Community Development and The European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development: Europe investing in rural areas, with funding for this project.

So if you want to see the finished product and where your money has gone come along on Sunday from 3pm or any day thereafter from 6am to 10.30pm. In accordance with GAA policy dogs are not permitted on the grounds or walkway. Walkway users should use the designated walkway gate to enter and exit. This is the new entrance close to the emergency gates to the main pitch (close to the shop).

 

Upcoming Events

A few dated for your calendar over Christmas. On Friday 28th December we have the now annual Clontibret Gold Rush, a 3km and 5km walk/ run at 2pm with registration from 1pm. This year’s route will incorporate the new track, so if you want to get the turkey and trifle run off this is your chance.

On Sunday December 30th we have two presentation events. First up at 6pm in the Community Centre is the Juvenile Presentation evening followed later on at the clubrooms by  the senior presentation for Player of the Year awards and presentation of medals to the championship winning Under 17 team.
