Monaghan defender Dessie Mone has committed to a 15th season with the Farney County.

Mone, who made his championship debut in 2004 and is now 34, told the Irish Daily Star that he had no hesitation in the decision, describing it as “a no-brainer” given the team’s success in recent years.

“At the moment, I’m not carrying any injuries and the body is in good shape, so really it was a no-brainer for me to give it another go for next year,” the Clontibret man stated.

“Over the last 10 years we’ve had a good bit of low time, but things are currently going very well, with us in Division 1 and getting to All-Ireland semi-finals, so it makes sense to stay on for another year.”
