AIB ULSTER CLUB JUNIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
Emyvale 5-13
Drumlane (Cavan) 3-7
As Monaghan Junior football champions twice in previous years, Emyvale have competed in and won the Ulster club Junior football championship and they got this year’s campaign off to a winning start when they proved too potent for Cavan champions Drumlane in Killdallon on Saturday afternoon last. Up to a point Emyvale did it the hard way as Drumlane got off to a flying start and Emyvale faced a four points deficit within ninety seconds of the throw-in. Ultimately they put that poor start behind them and when they got their rhythm going they were to proved far too potent a force on the day as their strength in attack proved too difficult for a Drumlane side who were coming into the game fresh from their first Cavan Junior football championship victory since 1999. Emyvale led as half-time by 2-5 to 2-3, Daniel McMahon, with both goals and they went on in the second-half to turn the tables completely on their opponents with a third goal in the early minutes of the second-half and they were to hit two more, the final one coming in stoppage time to seal a well merited and comfortable victory.

MC ELVANEY’S WASTE & RECYCLING INTERMEDIATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL
Doohamlet v Sean McDermotts: Clontibret: Sunday October 21st @ 3.30pm
It has taken sixteen games, to bring the intermediate football championship to its final conclusion, when Doohamlet and Sean McDermotts face off in O’Neill Park, Clontibret on Sunday to see which of them will win the first promotion spot up to senior ranks for the 2019 season. So will it be a second title in all for Sean McDermotts, who last won the intermediate championship in 2002, or it could be a third if you include the victory by Threemilehouse back in 1956. Meanwhile for Doohamlet they are looking for their fourth intermediate football championship title this decade, having won it for the first time in 2010 and they took the title again in 2012 and 2015, the most recent occasion when they defeated Carrickmacross in the final.
MAGUIRE INTERNATIONAL MINOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP DIV.1 FINAL REPLAY
Carrickmacross V Inniskeen: Clontibret: Sunday: October 21st @ 1.30pm
The curtain raiser to the intermediate football championship final is the replay of the minor championship division 1 final between Carrickmacross and Inniskeen after they finished all square at the end of a fairly low key game in Clones on County final day back on Sunday, October 7th. Both sides will be seeking to improve substantially on their performances that day as missed chances, errors, forced and unforced and turnovers were the order of the day. Carrickmacross led at half-time in that game by 1-4 to 0-6 and they ended all square on a final score of Carrickmacross 1-8, Inniskeen 0-11. Andrew Woods and Sean Jones are key players for Inniskeen, both finishing with four points apiece last time out, while Carrickmacross will again look to Donnach Swinburne, Cian Maher and Andrew Moore along with Oisin O’Hanlon for the vital scores. This one promises to be another close affair and will be keenly contested between these next door neighbours so it could still come down to a half chance as to who will have the Fergal O’Hanlon Cup home with them on Sunday evening.
