Fixture scene return to full action

August 16, 2018

With the County just beginning to recover from the disappointment of last Sunday in headquarters, things are beginning to get back to normal on the club scene, with a fairly mixed bag this weekend, that includes action in the Maguire Transport minor football championship, the Shoe City senior and the Monaghan Electric intermediate football leagues and 2 games in the
Universal Graphics Junior football championship.

JFC
In the Universal Graphics Junior football championship, Scotstown take on Cremartin, with that game in Tyholland on Sunday evening at 6 PM. The other game in the Junior football championship is between Emyvale and Clones and that one will takes place on Wednesday evening next August 22nd in Castleblayney at 8.00 PM. Cremartin will probably go into their game against Scotstown as slight favourites but as both won their opening round fixtures, they still have the safety net of the back door to come. Cremartin defeated Oram by 0-11 to 0-9 in a fairly feisty battle in Clontibret back on April 29th, while Scotstown took extra time to defeat Truagh in Emyvale in their 1st outing, 2 points separating them at the finish, 1-15 to 1-13. The meeting of Emyvale and Clones is a very attractive pairings, given that both could well figure in the latter stages of the championship, and certainly would have thoughts in that regard. Emyvale had a comfortable 9 points victory over Drumhowan in Clontibret back on April 29th and the following day Clones defeated Aghabog in Emyvale by 12 points on a final score of 2-13 to 0-10, so this one promises to be a fairly lively pacy encounter where again defeat is not the end of the line as both have the safety net of the back door at this stage.
