So half way through the season what do you all think of the new Meath management?
Any signs of the hunger of old? Man mangement/motivation? Tactical awareness? Team development?
Think the mangement team have done a great job in bringing in new players and giving lads a chance-old and new.
In terms of motivation we seem to be a decent second half team, though we lack consistency; something MOD really wanted to bring into the team. Body language of some players on the pitch is something that needs to improve.
Havent been impressed with tactical awareness & organisational skills.Very slow to make changes in the heat of battle, and players dont appear to know what their role is...perhaps it is difficult to break out of the shackles of Bantys style of play.
Havent been impressed with player fitness--we seriously need to pick it up over the next few weeks.
Jasus you know this is going to descend into 3/4 groups bantering their own views. First group will be those saying nonsense thread the man only has 10/11 games and there's no point looking at it yet, second one who will say give it 3 years it's not up to fans to have opinions on these things, then those who think he has been a disaster, dropping Ward, queeney, and O'Connor even though their playing better than those that replaced them. And then those who say no matter who you have in charge it will make no difference as we dont have the players, our club level is below majority in leinster etc etc.
For what it's worth I think all these opposing views have each a bit of merit to them, the man needs to be given time, however as a motivater I am on the fence, the arms folded on the sideline is not something that inspires me, he seems very quite during matches yet he seems very vocal at half time and has steadfast conviction in the way he wants to play, which despite what some meath people think is the defensive system with pacey half backs scoring from play. So he is really bringing bantys style to the next level Fitness levels are still off those required, and making changes in real time is probably the biggest problem id have with new management at the moment. having said all that I think he is doing a good enough job, got promotion if we reach leinster final that will have been a very successful first year overall to borrow a phrase from a political party. A lot done, more to do. :)
A mid season review of their first season in charge is silly, this is going to take more than one season and management need and drserve the time to create change
