Long trek for fixtures

(Oldest Posts First)

Just wondering has any of the other clubs got any issues with the club fixtures ?? As a Ballinabrackey Man this weekend i feel very angry having to drive to longwood for a junior d game at 12pm,go back home and then have to drive to ballivor for a league game at 6pm,is there any other clubs been treated like this ?? With Emigration and injuries some of our players will have to play sunday morning go home and then go and either sub or play with A team in league.Crazy stuff.

Was expecting an example like Ballinabrackey to St. Colmcilles and then to Moylough or something. But Longwood and Ballivor are hardly that far away.

The point im trying to make lads is that both games on the same Day is ok if they were at the same venue one proceeding the other but to expect players to travel to longwood 14km and home again 14km,sit down for an hour and a half and travel to ballivor 30km and back home again.Thats a total of 88km taking up more or less the whole day. Both games in ballivor at 12pm and 2.30pm would give lads some who work all week maybe a half day off.I just feel its terrible organisation on the fixtures behalf. My original post on this was regarding the fixtures and was titled "who is over fixtures in meath" and it was changed by the admin to the other heading of long trekking.

Dunboynes Seniors and Junior C's were out in Dunderry last weekend the day after each other, surely a double header makes more sense for things like this?

Well after all my complaining about the fixtures set up and driving up and down to pitches all day when we got to ballivor yesterday evening they could not field a team, this is not on,we had a player who drove up from cork yesterday to play only for there to be no game, ballivor must be in serious trouble if they cant field a team in April, yes i know they are out of the championship already but to be unable to field a first team in April can only spell trouble for the club.

yeah i know, its worrying all right, huge pick as well from athboy parish border to hill of down, and all kildalkey village, must be 12 mile. Hurling is king in that area and now ballivor are out of championship i think they will only fulfill a handful of games in A league, might get hard to fulfil last two games of championship too. Killyon look to be gunning for the senior hurling this year so that will prob take precedence now. its just always the way in ballivor when the hurling is goin well the football suffers. if they had a couple of players on meath football team it would help, like in the 90s

Hate to be going on about this again but the fixtures committee just havent got a clue.I see they have a clatter of B league games fixed for the bank holiday monday night at 7.30. Its usually hard enough for clubs to try and get a B team out on a normal monday night I can only imagine how hard it will be on a bank holiday night.

glenny very sorry if I seem to have upset you its not a moan just a question really Are the county players allowed play with their clubs at the weekend and if you check out some of the other county homepages its a question thats being asked quite a lot and yes games were played on monday night mostly with an almighty struggle to get teams out I spoke to lads from 3 different clubs that were involved with teams and they said they had serious trouble to get lads to go and the games they were involved in were pathetic but anyway we are not allowed moan here so i wont annoy you anymore.
