These prices are getting to be a joke!

(Oldest Posts First)

Being someone who goes to a lot of games the price of attendance is really starting to bug me. I went to four games over the weekend and had to pay full price into each one. Worst of all, not one of the games had a programme of the teams.

Before one of the games in our state of the art county ground this weekend, after handing over my ten euro I asked if there were programmes (and by programmes, a sheet with a few names would suffice) available and the person at the stall laughed and said something along the lines of 'sure ya wouldn't get the teams off the managers'. I mean, what are they running in there at all!? The biggest laugh of the whole lot was there was a queue of about 50 people waiting to be served from one window open in the ticket office in the whole stadium and I'm sure this grew as I was in quite early.

All that is being achieved by this is people are being driven away from even bothering to go to games. What ever happened to the days of double headers? God forbid we get two games for the price of one. Surely something like a weekend pass can be put in place for supporters to avail of.

And for god sake, surely somebody can take the time out to print a few f**king names on an a4 sheet!!

Is there any wonder our once great county is in it's current state?

There was a programme in Summerhill for the Na Fianna Dunshauglin game. Having it makes a big difference even if team dont line out exactly as on the sheet. It cant be that difficult to do. Clubs could be "directed" by the county board to supply teams to host clubs 2 or 3 days in advance. Teams dont have to be 100% accurate.

Do the Meath County Board not to do a weekly ticket for Championship matches? In Louth wee have one that costs 20 euro for the weekend and it covers championship matches from Thur to Sun.

Take last week for example Royalfan4life there was one Championship match on a Thursday night, two double headers on at the same time on Friday night (so take your pick) , two double headers on at the same time on Saturday night (so take your pick) and on Sunday there was a double header during the day and that evening (so you could go to both double headers). That's nine matches you could go to over four nights and days for twenty euro. The only thing is you need a good wife to understand your passion. So bring her out for a meal to keep her happy the following weekend when there is no football.

I think that 10 quid is a bit steep for a group stage. Feel that they moved away from the fan again to being focused on the commercial aspect to the detriment of the atmosphere at games. And also have noticed, myself included, people are going to only one game now that its 10.

Before at 5, id have gone to 3 games which was 15 theyd have got of me now there only getting 10. loss of 5.

Spot on and a lot of people are doing the same. The neutral is not going to matches now due to cost

No and it would be a massive step forward if they were to do this. I'm sure it works a treat for going to games. How long has that been in action in Louth?

I never really knew the ins and outs of it. The county one would be no good to me as a few of us take it in turns to get tickets each week Meath play and have done so for years now. Are they separate? A club one would be ideal, I just assumed they came together? Like Ollie talked about above, a weekend ticket would make the most sense and I would get great use from it. It stinks of laziness on the county board's behalf they don't have this in place.

Unagi the last three to four years anyway. It is great value if you have the time to do.

Ah but the cost of bringing Herself out to dinner would take away the savings on the weekend ticket, and more besides. Unless she was up for a slap up feed in the Valley. Could still have a few quid left over after that.

Ah but once she is not nagging ye all weekend it would be worth it. Plus bring her breakie in bed the next morning with a rose in a jar and that will keep her happy for a while.

You've obviously never met AnBheanMhor if you think that tea and toast and a rose will stop the nagging!!

Tea and toast is not a proper breakie. A full breakie is tea, toast, eggs, rashers, sausages, beans, fried tomato, white and black pudding. That will set you up for the day.
