Down v Meath

Replying To royaldunne:  "Sorry if it wasn't clear enough. First off our friends from Galway Cavan etc coming on to rub it in.
Secondly those with county indicating from Meath but give out constantly about team county etc, either they not from Meath or they bitter mod squad who can't believe he wasn't appointed for longer than boylan."
RD I would imagine the one Galway poster who threw out the comment of the Royals 'having any chance of beating us' more the exception than the rule. Most Galway football folk that I know are quite realistic and often not vociferous enough in their opinion unlike a great proportion of our noisy neighbours to give you a contrast. We know where we and the last decade and a half should reinforce this point. However we are an upward curve but history tells me to treat this with caution. On another issue I am with you on Graham Reilly. Basically the better a player is the more expectancy from the faithful particularly if one's team is not cutting the mustard. We had it for a number of years in relation to Paul Conroy although less pressure on him now and it's a continuum with Joe Canning on the Galway hurling team.

Replying To anto_meath:  "Royaldunne, I am not having a go a Graham. But you might remember when you were young in school playing ball at break, Graham would be the first lad picked because he is the best of the bunch, you would give him the ball and let him run through everyone to score. That's what the Meath players have been doing for the last few years. Every other team Meath play know this so all they target Graham and bottle him up (many times illegally) and the remaining 14 players become lost of ideas. As was said in the Derry game when Graham wasn't playing, players looked for other options and done quite well. But as was also said it is very unlikely the our captain will not start a game once fit. Everyone from Meath who comments on this form want Meath to win every game, they want Andy and the players to be successful. People would love to think one of the various teams or suggestions they made here would actually get to play a part in beating, Galway, Cork, Dublin or whoever. But in reality I dont think Andy or any one else involved with the team would even bother to read this form and even less likely to pay any notice of it. As we have seen in some of the games so far Meath have some good talented players capable of playing nice football when everything "clicks right" but what is frustrating for every fan is that it can "click wrong" just as handy as it "clicks right" at the minute. Meath are like a car with a doggy battery, the slightest little thing can flatten it but a wee bit of trial and error will hopefully get it sorted."
Instead of dropping Graham would you consider him for number 6 spot?

Ahh I know that. We all have those types lol.
Look it will take one hell of effort for Meath to win this one. But I and others are hoping for a reaction from last week. If shoe was on other foot ID be confident but wary, as it stands I am hopeful no more. As you know I have a huge soft spot for they tribe football, I am hoping for a good open game on Sunday and of course a Meath win, however this is the game I feared most at start of league and unless we improve significantly we won't compete.

Sometimes I wonder!-maybe we should put Keoghan full forward and Royaldunne corner forward and let him roam outfield!!!

Here is my team for Sunday V Galway we need to pick a bigger stronger team

1. Joe S 6'2"
2. Power 6'3"
3.Tobin 6'1"
4.McGill 6'2"
5.Harnan 6'1"
6. Keogan 6'1"
7. Douglas6'2"
8. Forde 5'11"
9. Lad From Clonard 6" 5"
10. Menton 6'4"
11. Reilly 6'2"
12. Toher 6'2"
13. Tobin Siminstown 6'2"
14. Paddy O'Rourke 6'6"
15. Lenihan 6'0"

Now look at that team big and strong, only one lad under 6 foot.

all good fast footballers. In this team we have high fielders, strong ball carriers, strong men, tough men, good tacklers, in every section of the field.
We also have men that can score, Biggy,Toher,Menton, Lenihan and Tobin, and we have free takers.
We would also have a target man in full forward to try and beat the blanket defense.

We can not compete with the teams that are taking the field at the moment. We need to be stronger and more robust.
would the team that finished last Sunday compete with the Dubs, Tyrone,Donegal,Monaghan. Kerry,Mayo,Kildare,Cavan,??????????????????

There's a lot of doom and gloom at the moment on here. I know we're not where we think we should be but there are plenty of 'shock results' every year in the league, Sligo beat Tipperary and then lost to Antrim recently. I personally wouldn't read into it as much as we sometimes do.

We should recruit the security guard from Navan shopping centre for midfield to complete our perfect team of six footers :)
