GumShields

(Oldest Posts First)

Does anyone know the ruling on this, I have seen inter county player not wearing them on the TV , but i was at a few club games were i seen a ref sent the player to the side line to put it in.

Does anyone know the actually ruling on it or is there one rule for the inter county boys and one for the poor aul club player?

Wearing of gumshields is mandatory at all levels for all players.
Yellow card offense I believe if you don't wear it but most refs will make you put it in or fetch it.

Sure most of the things the county lads do in Croke Park every Sunday wouldn't be allowed at club level....

You are correct but there is a get-out though- you need a doctor's cert which is officially approved by CP - Players who have aspiratory problems may fall into the cert category. I do not agree with the shield- maybe the next thing will be helmets for the head.

Nonsense, helmets are forbidden as per rule in gaelic football. Question: In the past when there was no rule regarding helmets in either code, what player played football with a hurling helmet in the Leinster Senior Football Championship?
