Replying To Wedgie:  "I read the Chronicle for the historical section, I love reading about how Meath was once a great Footballing superpower back at the turn of the last century and wonder what things must have been like back then.
Times may have changed but the mentality of the county board is still firmly rooted in those far off distant days."
Stone age mentality here Wedgie.

I can't see where your coming from here jersey. You are factually incorrect in most of your mutterings. Firstly there is a 7 day rule in the county that all county teams get 7 days to prepare for a game agreed by the county executive, It doesn't distinguish between football and hurling. All the manager was asking for was the time to prepare for the final. The minor football got more time than that to prepare for the Leinster league, some minor footballers only togged out for their clubs for the first time last week. That's 7 months. The manager asked that the football matches be brought forward 3 or 4 days and played last weekend not 3 days before final. sounds reasonable to me but not to the fixtures secretary there was no reason why this couldn't have happened.
To make this into a Hurling V Football thing well you obviously know very little about the man. He has represented both club and county in both codes at one stage or other so I'm told. was a member of the Tones back room team that won football championships a decade ago. So I doubt he is anti football. In fact he sounds like the type of man Mc Entee should be scouting for his back room team. the fact that you or any other so called football supporter would begrudge the hurling camogie or Ladies football their hour of glory is a reflection on you. Before you get hot under the collar the same applies to the so called hurling supporters. Then again maybe I'm misguided as I'm a GAA man.
Best of luck to the U21 Hurlers tomorrow and all the teams that wear the county jersey.

FYI and anyone else interested I am not factually incorrect.
1. Rule 6.22 official guide clearly says 7 day rule but "in same code" which means it does distinguish between hurling and football.
2. As regards minor the Guide also says members of county squads cannot play league football with clubs
3. These are not Meath rules but GAA rules
4. Weather you agree with them or not the GAA which means all counties clubs etc are bound by them
5. There was full round of hurling championship last week so games could not go back.
6. I never mentioned women's football or camoige
7. I did als state that these rules should also apply to football managers and that at least the county board grew a pair and the games went ahead and hoped to see more of this
8. I still maintain this Cannot be classed as anything more than a tournament u21
9. I mean while the Christy ring is a tier 2 or B competition
10. my facts are right in every aspect or than 8 which my opionion which I am entitled too. That can be argued but the factual information can not be

I don't begrudge the hurlers but I think the whole situation could have been avoided with intelligent planning earlier in the year!

What really bothers me now after all these delays is the Co. Board's decision to arrange Friday night games for championship.
Firstly, we wait all summer without championship games, then we are asked to play 3 week-ends in a row and now, play a Q/F on a Friday night.

No consideration given to lads working and travelling afar to try and get there in time for a warm up. Never mind supporters that would like to see the game without having to rush from work and travel at dusk.
To make matters worse, our venue is that kip and white elephant that is Dunganny. Perfect location for NASA to build a natural wind tunnel!
Why do I bother!

Liam McCarthy = A
Christy Ring = B
Nicky Record = C
Lowrie Maher =D
Meath will play in Leinster B next year with other counties not good enough to play in real Leinster Championship."
im just saying why would you be little their achievement i was at the 1st game and it was probably one of the best games of the year
im not trying to start a football vs hurling debate as i play both but admittedly have been more of a football man all my life but credit is due where its due the county board have made this mess not any county teams football or hurling a lack of forsight and faith in the hurling team cause a lot of it and of course the officials in the drawn christy ring cup final

Just looked at the club latest fixtures update on the home page and I notice that the County Board haven't scheduled any SFC games or indeed any football games for Sunday the 18th, presumably to enable the Meath footballing community to attend/enjoy the All Ireland Senior football final which is on that day.
With all the talk of fixture log jams and player burnout it's funny that they would be so magnanimous when they had no problem scheduling a full round of Meath SHC games for the day of the All Ireland Senior Hurling final, either side of the game in fact.

interesting observation here Wedgie. Trim and Kilmessan had a crucial game the morning of the hurling all ireland. Pretty poor form from the co board and interesting that they havent done likewise for football. whether it is genuine preferential treatment for football or that they are reacting to feedback it's difficult to know but the cynic in me would say it's preferential treatment.

Yes, and there was also a SHC game at 7:30 that evening in Dunganny (Dunboyne V Dunderry), many of the players involved in that game had to forego the opportunity to attend the All Ireland Final because they were playing in it that evening.
Some of those players were only given the opportunity to buy their tickets from the CB because they were part of the Meath Senior Hurling panel that delivered the Christy Ring to Meath.
Poor form really but not entirely unexpected in a football stronghold like this.

Just looked at the latest updated fixture list, can't help noticing no games scheduled for Saturday.
Must be something on in Croke Park that the footballing community might like to attend?
