Walkovers Need to Stop

Replying To Ibbecek:  "Trim's walkover to Ballinabrackey has certainly come back to haunt them.

Unbelieveable and a self inflicted demotion.

Come to think of it, O'Mahonys walkover to Wolfe Tones did them no favours either and I suspect may have had a part to play in the pathetic defence of the Championship."
Talking to someone from Trim yesterday the walkover to Ballinabrackey made no difference. Nobber would still have finished ahead of them on head to head. They couldn't field a team due to dual players and injuries. Also that match was fixed for 7pm in Ballinabrackey and a number of Trim players based in Dublin couldn't make it in time for throw in either. Looks like it was defeats to Meath Hill, Drumbaragh and Blackhall (when they were 8 or 9 points up) that cost them. Heard the play off was ill tempered with 4 sent off. One from each after a big melee. The trim man I spoke to said a curragha selector came onto the pitch and hit a Trim player from behind in the row. Disgraceful if true

the only thing that will stop the majority of walkovers is competent fixture planning mid week league fixtures with teams playing each other from different ends of the county need to be looked at. very hard to ask lads from ballinacree to travel in balinabrackey or vice versa on a weekday night. its alright having midweek games with the likes of for e.g o mahonys and senchalstown where the clubs are in close proximity to each other. Dual clubs have to be taken into consideration aswell, see a poster mentioeed dunsany fielding a skeleton team because of hurling against curragha not the first time these players have been asked to do it. same with kiltale and moynalvey and other dual clubs. no consideration given

It would also help 'focus commitment' if every other team in the competition and not just the opposing team were awarded a point if any team gives a walkover.

What would help most if teams stop whinging and focus on themselves rather than others -try to win a few matches and in that way you stay up or get promoted.
