Jesus some of the teams out state side would get to the Super 8s with all the players gone out there longroadback (Meath) - Posts: 322 - 12/06/2018 16:13:42 2110593 Link 0 |
Good game tonight, lads played well. It's a pity this competition had dwindled to only 4 teams in Leinster. Tormey out with hamstring since last Friday night game v Wolf Tones, sitting in stand tonight. It gives lads a chance to play in Croke Park that's about the height of it. Kildare hammered Louth and always have a strong team.

Good to win tonight and it will the lads a game in Croke Park probably in front of a decent crowd. The more games these players get at this level the better. Ppl MeathWawa (Meath) - Posts: 61 - 13/06/2018 05:02:36 2110841 Link 0 |
A great win and I believe that few of these players are certainly able to cut it at senior level. In particular few of the forwards are very classy. Natural finishers in daire Rowe, peter o Connell and Kevin Ross, dare I say,we were missing few finishers at the weekend so plenty of promise here. Kildare will be tough opposition but it's a good marker for meath. tackleberry (Meath) - Posts: 324 - 13/06/2018 13:52:30 2111034 Link 0 |
Winning is a habit, and hopefully a few of these lads will gain from this experience and bring it to seniors. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 13/06/2018 21:28:16 2111272 Link 0 |
As far as I know Curragha with rule changes means their players having played senior this year are out of bounds. I stand to be corrected.

Though Kevin Traynor was actually the pick of the bunch the other night, big powerful strong runner who rarely wastes a ball, suited to the type of football we want to play longroadback (Meath) - Posts: 322 - 14/06/2018 09:02:50 2111382 Link 0 |
yes i think Traynor is a good prospect injured early in the year and missed out with seniors him and Conor Farrell who impressed when he came on are the only two would have a chance to step up to senior

Kevin is a club mate of my own, don't think he was injured this year, didnt get the call, think he would be worth looking at for the Seniors

I don't think that is the reason as John Keane from Summerhill, who came on as a sub on Tuesday night, has played Senior Football this year for his club, as has Andrew Tormey, even though he did not play on Tuesday.

It should be a good a day out with Meath and Kildare in the Junior and the Dubs and Laois in the Senior. Meath looking to retain the Championship that they won last year against the Wee County. I would go myself only that I'm staying in Carrick the previous night. Best of luck to the Royals. OLLIE (Louth) - Posts: 12224 - 14/06/2018 20:59:04 2111629 Link 0 |

They played really well for first 40 mins, Kevin Traynor went off injured early in second half, struggled round the middle after that, he seems to be seems like one that could well step up, big, athletic and mobile , thought some of the lads already on senior set up disappointed, and backs easy to score against, but the forwards look dangerous when getting a supply of ball, dried up in second half, some forwards quite greedy aswell, shooting from awkward spots when there were men free in better positions.

They did play really well for first 40 minutes , the surprise walk off/removal with Kevin Traynor was a concern , who seemed to control MF on his own was an upset . Even worse was the lack of speed in getting a substitute on , Young Clare stood watching on the side line while Kildare powered thru for a point in Traynors absence .The big surprise is that he went down on his knees initially to signal an issue , and then lay down , and the sub was not prepped in case he was needed . Meath on taking a free after Traynor went off kicked the possession away , instead of putting the ball out of play to allow Clare on . That lack of sharps cost Meath vital seconds and a score Meath_True (Meath) - Posts: 285 - 25/06/2018 13:24:13 2114654 Link 0 |
Agree with this, very slow to get Kevin off when it was clear he was not fit to continue, but promising performance from plenty of the players.

While I can't pretend to be totally surprised when I read who picked up the red card can anyone who was at the game give a bit more detail on it? There's nothing in the report.
