Replying To srgt_slaughter:  "the main issue i think simonstown had at least with the na fianna fixture is that the na fianna county players were released and the simonstowns werent. now not being from simonstown i can only imagine this is the case. to me its a fair point. why should one lot of county players be released and some not. i know there was a challenge the next day against cavan but club should come first. mcentee is going back on his word saying he'd make the swuad available to the clubs. compettitive a league games will stand more to the lads than half hearted challenge matches"
Who from Na Fianna is on county panel ?

I'm not so sure on that- they may have been within the rules if they gave enough notice, but I'm not privy to their correspondence and it will be interesting to see how it pans out

Replying To BigJoe14:  "Na Fianna dont have anyone on the meath panel at the minute. I would actually say the meath players have played as much if not more with there clubs than any other county players in other counties considering meath have not started there championship yet. It is unrealistic to expect county players to be available for every league match. Andy is not going to learn anything about how he wants his team to line up for championship by watching them play league games with there club, he needs the challenge matches to work tactics etc. The intensity may not be huge in these friendlies but they are very important for working on tactics and keeping momentum going from the league as meath have had a 8 week break from league to championship. The players will be released to there clubs for all of next week and then its 2 weeks until meath play louth. Last sundays game against cavan was the last chance to get a decent match under there belts before Louth. The players on the panel that havent featured in the match day squads have played almost every league game except for one or two so i think people need to have a bit of cop on really. And also the same people whinging about players not being released will be the same ones whinging if meath dont perform in the championship. Andy and the lads are giving the players the best possible preperation in order to perform on the big days, and given they have been training flat out since the middle of october they deserve this."
yeah thats the problem for the clubs their only released the week of the championship. how is the club team suppose to prepare properly without its top players. all you mentioned above with tactics and working well, club team need this too. lads around longer than a week. theirs a balance to this, nut as always it tips in the favour of the county team while the clubs suffer again

It's not about notice, if that was the case every club could arrange the fixtures to suit themselves and no football would be played. Both clubs must agree and Co board must sanction before change is made

Meath county players are released more than any other county I know of. Imagine been in Donegal.
Childishness at its highest. I look forward to cb hitting them with proper fine. Nip this showboating cause managers mate is no longer manager of county (thank god) in the bud.

Sure he didn't even say mass in the Poseidon adventure, it was of no help at all. Perhaps the towering inferno. :)
