JAFC: Moylagh see off battling Kilmainhamwood

July 25, 2017

Kilmainhamwood's Paddy Carolan

Kilmainhamwood 2-7

Moylagh 3-18

Kilmainhamwood were defeated in the fourth round of the junior championship by Moylagh. Moylagh dominated the early exchanges and raced into a 1-3 to 1 point lead. However, a well taken Paddy Carolan goal and a goal stopping block down the other end by Emmett Clarke put the Wood right back in it mid-way through the first half. Moylagh however began to dominate again half-way through the first half scoring another goal and five points as they lead 2-8 to 1-4 at the break.

The game was put beyond doubt ten minutes into the second half when Moylagh were awarded a penalty in strange circumstances after the referee initially seemed to allow play to continue and Kilmainhamwood were building from the back. The Wood continued to fight hard with Harry Corbally and Paddy Carolan putting in a hard shift on what was not an easy day for the Wood in a game where nothing seemed to go their way.

In the end Moylagh ran out comfortable winners.

Best for the Wood were Harry Corbally, Paul Carolan and Paddy Carolan

Kilmainhamwood: Damian Russell, Philip Moran, Padraic Barber, Jude Collins, Alan Carolan, Emmett Clarke, Cathal Bennett, Harry Corbally, Gary Yorke, Andy Farrelly, Micheal Shankey, Paul Carolan, Steven Kiernan, Paddy Carolan, David Russell. Subs. Richard Corbally for Alan Carolan
