Duleek/Bellewstown maintained their push for promotion back to Division 1 with a hard fought 13 - 11 pts win over a well organised Castletown side, under the guidance of former Meath stalwart Hank Traynor.

Jamie Crosby opened the scoring with a pointed free on 6 mins with Micheal Dowling following up with a point from play, before the visitors hit a purple patch with 3 unanswered pts to take the lead on 15 mins. Johnny Flood then levelled proceedings & Darren Heeney restored the lead with well taken pts from play before the 2 teams traded pts from frees. Sub Johnny McDonnell lead the way with 2 successive pts on the run, to push DB into a commanding 3 pts lead before both teams traded further pointed frees to leave the hosts 8 - 5 pts up the interval.

Scores were hard come by at the start of the 2nd half when Castletown brought DB back to the bare minimum with 2 pts from play on the 40 & 43 mins. In fact it took DB all of 16 mins before they finally made the breakthrough with 2 further points from the industrious Johnny McDonnell. The visitors hit back with a point before Shane Crosby & substitute Mark Collins scored 2 outstanding points to leave daylight between the teams. However, Castletown responded with 2 unanswered pts to leave it anyone's game and despite a siege on DB's goalmouth they managed to hold out with some heroic defending, ably lead by full back Brian Moore & saves from goalie Anthony Dowling.

The contest was finally settled with a pulsating run from Robin Clarke which lead to a smashing point from sub Anto Burke with the last kick of the ball on 66 mins.

This result puts Duleek Bellewstown joint tops with Ratoath in Division 2 after 6 matches.
