Kilmainham 1-11 Clann na nGael 1-12

Clann na nGael maintained their place at the top of Division 3 with this narrow win over Kilmainham Saturday at Sean Newman Park Bohermeen.

Clann na nGael got the better start and led for most of the first half. A Rory Tuite goal had the Athboy/Rathcairn lads 6 points ahead just before the break. Kilmainham scored a goal from a free that dropped short to leave 3 points between the sides at half time 1-8 to 1-5.

Clann started the second half well with their two wing backs Philip Garry and Colie O Griofa getting on the score sheet to put their side 5 points up.

Kilmainham  fought back and began to cut the lead and with 10 minutes remaining had reduced the lead to 2 points Clann na nGael introduced some substitutes to steady things  and this worked initially with Eamon O Donnachada and Gary Woods points putting the Clann na nGael lead at 4 points.

However Kilmainham were not finished and replied with 3 quick points to leave them behind by theminimum with time up. Referee Seamus O'Connor played 2 minutes injury time but Kilmainham couldn't get the equaliser  and Clann na nGael held on to take the points.
