FL Div 4: All White on the night

April 24, 2017

Kilbride's Brian White

Kibride 5-8 Moynalty 2-14

In ideal conditions and on one of the best pitch surfaces in the County, Kilbride welcomed Moynalty for this div 4 round 6 A league game on Friday evening.

Kilbride were anxious to get back to winning ways after there previous round loss to Longwood. A win would keep them in touch with top of the table leaders Cortown.

In lovely sunshine the home club had an extra treat for the large crowd in attendance with their U8s playing an exhibition go games match at half time.

There was a real good athmosphere at throw in with the kids generating loud chants of support for the home club..but it was the visitors who started brightly and registered an early point. They continued to dominate and were causing the Kilbride defence all sorts of problems and with ten minutes gone the visiting team were rewarded with an excellent taken goal to lead by 1-3 and it wasnt looking good for the home team.

But it was the home team who responded and dominated the rest of the half. It all started with an excellent score from Stephen McMullen who registered Kilbrides first score with a point. This was soon followed by another point from David O'Leary and the home side were back in it when Gareth Lynch found the net after excellent play which started in the full back line. At this stage Kilbride were getting a foot hold on the game and were causing all sorts of problems for Moynaltys defence.

The ever young Brian White was causing all sorts of problems up front and he two found the net after an excellent run. The backs were on top and the emphatic O'Leary in midfield who was well supported by Dean Stapelton were outstanding and were the platform for all that was good. As half time approached Lynch helped himself to his second goal after great defending initially stopped a goal ward shot from White. Sloppy defending allowed Moynalty to get there second goal which was soon followed by another well taken point but it was that man again Brian White who again found the net after great build up play and he slotted low to the bottom of the net.

Kilbride were deserved leaders at half time Kilbride 4- 4 to 2-6

Moynalty were quickest after the break to get on the score board but with the introduction of Craig Sheridan at half time Kilbride improved on their attacking ability and he soon registered an outstanding effort from distance and this was soon followed by Wjites third goal of the evening when he again finished off an excellent move when he found the top corner of the net from twenty five yards. To their credit Moynalty continued to pick off some fine scores but with further points from John Smith, McMullen and an excellent score from Aaron Dunne it was going to be Kilbrides night and another two point on the board in the league as deserved winners.

Full time Kibride 5-8 Moynalty 2-14

This was an excellent performance with Barron, Smith and Clarke solid in defence, Stapelton and O'Leary the latter was outstanding in mid field. This gave the platform for the forwards to put in a great shift and man of the match White was outstanding. This was his first start of the season and it was worth waiting for with a hat trick of goals..
