O'Rourke in Leinster squad

Simonstown's Shane O'Rourke

Shane O'Rourke's inclusion in the Leinster squad for tommorrow's inter-provincial football semi-final against Connacht has raised the prospect of him returning to the Meath fold next year.

O'Rourke has been called up by manager Sean Kelly after starring for Simonstown Gaels' in their historic Meath SFC success at the end of October. A son of RTE pundit and Meath legend Colm, the midfielder was regarded as one of the Royal County's brightest prospects a decade ago, only for a succession of injuries to blight his career.

Despite not playing for the county in 2016 O'Rourke was named Meath footballer of the Year last week after a number of hugely impressive performances.
