All-Ireland Finals. Hens teeth. Your odds of finding either are rare, however in 2016, Meath Ladies have reached two national deciders. Unfortunately, the U14s lost out to Tipperary in June but those involved in Meath LGFA needn't have worried as there is another chance to get their hands on a national title this Saturday at 2pm in St. Loman's.

Meath Minors began their journey to Saturday's Final back on the 6^th February when they defeated a resilient Wicklow side by 4-09 to 1-04. Without doubt, the turning point of their season was the Leinster Final. Having been beaten by Kildare on two occasions by a single score in earlier rounds of the Leinster Championship, the Royals were in determined mood and emphatically saw off their opponents by 5-10 to 1-11.

Meath qualified for the All Ireland Final two weeks ago when they saw off Cavan in a tight battle. It was a top class team display where the Royals refused to throw in the towel, and despite being behind by two points with three minutes to go, the Minors dug deep and came away with a three point win.

For many, Saturday's Final is the last time the girls will play a County Minor game and as such it is a special one. However, with an All Ireland title within reach, the girls are not there for the pageantry and will know they will need to come out fighting from the first whistle til the last, in much the same way as their semi-final. They have quality and determination throughout their panel and Meath Minor management will be hoping all goes to plan on the day.

The Meath Minor management team are in their second year with the Minor team. They are led by manager, Eamon Murray and ably assisted by Fergal Lynch, Bertie MacLochlainn and Eimear Murray. All of whom are well experienced when it comes to ladies football within the county. They will know what it means to not only the panel but to the wider Meath Ladies community to win an All Ireland title. They will also be aware of the threat their opponents pose, themselves Connacht Champions. Roscommon saw off a fancied Waterford side in the other semi-final and the Minors will know to not underestimate their opponents.

Regardless of the end result on Saturday afternoon, to reach two national deciders in the same calendar year is already something to be proud of and one that demonstrates above all else, that ladies football within the county is in good state.
