U16 FL Div 2 Final: Murray goals crucial in Comcilles win

Three goals from corner forward Mark Murray proved crucial as St Colmcilles defeated Walterstown in this exciting Meath Under 16 Division 2 Football League final played in ideal conditions in Pairc Tailteann.

Walterstown raced in to an early two point lead only for Colmcilles to hit back with 1-1. Murray pointed before Stephen Emmett struck for a fine goal at the hospital end. Walterstown hit back with a goal of their own through Sam McCabe and the Blacks held a 1-4 to 1-2 lead after twenty minutes. 

Two brilliantt points from the left boot of Ross Molloy and the first of Murrays goals gave the Bettystown outfit a 2-6 to 1-6 interval lead.

It was all Walterstown for the opening ten minutes of the second half. Barry O'Connell landed a massive point and when Adam Cummins raised a white flag the sides were level 1-9 to 2-6 after 37 minutes. 

Stephen Breen settled St Colmcilles with a fine score before Murray hit the net for the second time on the 44th minute. By the 52nd minute St Colmcilles were well out of sight. Points from Cian Crowley, Aaron Brady and goals from Murray, his third and Adam McCabe put the game out of walterstown's reach.
