Castletown celebrate at Pairc Tailteann

Castletown 4-9 Oldcastle 0-7

Castletown's second half display merited this 14 point win over Oldcastle in this Div 6 league Final played in Pairc Tailteann on Saturday afternoon.

It took Castletown 15 minutes to get of the mark with a point from Evan Carry. The same player hit 2 more before the break but it was Oldcastle that held the advantage at the break 0-5 to 0-3.

Whatever was said by the Castletown mentors Vinny Farrelly and Joey Matthews to their players at halftime where they stayed on the pitch worked wonders because they excelled in the second period.

The game was really turned on its head in a two minute spell when Evan Carry hit the net on the 3rd and 4th minutes of the half.

With points from Rian Monaghan on 12 minutes, Evan Carry on 13th and14th minutes. Patrick McKenna with 1-1, Rian Monaghan with wonderful long range efforts on 21st and 23 minutes and finally Patrick Mc Kenna with a goal to finish off the scoring.

This was an excellent performance from the Castletown side with their ability to play for  and support each other and their willingness to give the ball to a colleague in a better position. It was simply breath taking to watch a team play so well together and a credit to their mentors and it wouldn't be fair to anyone to name a man of the match. The future looks bright for Castletown GFC. Congratulations to all involved.

Castletown Team; Jamie Hickey, Conor Price, Adam Matthews, Killian Smyth, Alex Matthews, Ciaran O Dea, Jack Farrelly, Eoghan Moore, Rian Monaghan 0-3 , Rian Mc Connell, Patrick Mc Kenna 2-1, Evan Carry 2-5, Aaron Monaghan. Sub; John Paul O Byrne for Aaron Monaghan.
