Centre forward Cadhla McKenna was the hero for Kilbride, hitting a goal and a point in the last minute to win the LMFM sponsored Minor Football League Division 5 title in ideal conditions at Pairc Tailteann.

The impressive Cathal Murphy and Joseph Donnelly traded points in the opening five minutes before Kilbride dominated and were rewarded with scores from Donnelly (2) and Michael Farrell (2) to race into a 0-5 to 0-2 lead after 12 minutes. 

A double from Murphy and fine efforts from Ciaran Roche and David Boyle left the minimum between the teams after 25 minutes before corner forward Murphy netted the first of his three goals to give Bective Dunsany a 1-6 to 0-7 lead.

That lead was short lived however as from the next play Kilbride had a goal of their own. Some slack defending allowed Martin Courtney to put them back in to the lead. Kilbride went in at the break 1-8 to 1-6 ahead.

Bective Dunsany made all the running in the early stages of the second half. Murphy landed three points and another from Boyle had them in the lead once more. 

But again Kilbride fought their way back in to the game. Full forward Donnelly (2), a fourth point from Farrell and a brilliant score from team captain David O'Leary put them three up with ten minutes remaining.

That man again Murphy hit 2-1 in the space of five minutes to push the amalgamation team ahead 3-11 to 1-14 with time almost up and certain of victory.

Kilbride's Cadhla McKenna had other ideas. He calmly slotted over a close in free to narrow the gap to two and with the last kick of the ball found the back of the Bective Dunsany net to seal a memorable victory.
