In fact the town side were loosing by two points with six minutes to play, but showed their experience by notching 2-2 in the last five minutes.

The sides were level at half time and Trim were lucky to be level as Kiltale dominated the exchanges for long periods of the opening half. Was it not for the tireless never say die attitude of youngster Shinny Connor the reds would have gone in at the break behind.

Half time score Kiltale 1-2 Trim 0-5

The second Half saw Kiltale again dominate exchanges, they tagged on some lovely points. Hard graft from Edel Guy,the afore mentioned Shinny Connor,Shona White,Annmarie Fagan and Sharon Hillard kept Trim in the game. With six minutes left on the clock the score board read Kiltale 1-6 Trim 0-7 .Trim were finding it hard to get scores, it was now time for the reds to show that experience counts and it did,as up stepped Lynn "The Goal Machine " Winters with a brilliant goal in the 25th minute, this was followed by another great goal from the most experienced of them all Christine Fagan in the 27th minute. The game had not been going that well for Lynn "The goal machine" or Christine up to this point as they were both well marked by their Kiltale opponents. But as the say the cream will always come to the top. Edel Guy added two points and the game was over. Trim were lucky, was the overall consensus as the large attendance left Batterjohn.

This was the town sides third win out of three in the championship and they sit proudly on top of the table.

Manager Aaron Fagan and Coach Alan Smith were relieved to have secured the two points but both agreed that the girls used their get out of jail card to win. Speaking after the match Fagan said the he was happy to have the break for the school exams and admitted that the girls had a lot of work to do in the next month if they wanted to have a realistic chance of winning the championship.Fagan went on to say a performance like tonight's would not be near good enought to beat current champions Kilmessan. Alan Smith also said that much work on fitness and touch needed to be done during the break but stressed that the girls were a committed bunch and that he was prepared to leave no stone unturned in the pre-suite of championship glory.
Aaron and Alan are the perfect management team as both have tasted championship glory with their clubs, Aaron with Rathmoylon and Alan with Trim,in fact Alan is the proud holder of eight senior hurling championships medals with Trim.

Alan's parting words were " I am prepared to spend every night in the park training to win this thing"
