Anthony Carney, of Balla and Co Meath laid to rest

The death took place on September 15 last of Anthony Carney, of Hayestown, Navan, Co Meath and formerly of Laragan, Balla.

Although he had been resident in Co Meath for much of his life, Anthony had a great passion for the Mayo senior football team and celebrated their victories throughout the summer on the way to the All-Ireland Final against Donegal. Apart from Gaelic Games, Anthony loved all sports and kept a keen eye on the major sporting events of the day.

A farmer by profession, he had retired in recent years but continued to maintain an interest in farming affairs. Anthony is survived by his wife Margaret (nee Carney); sons John, Anthony Jnr, Bill, Seamus and Tommy, all of Hayestown, Navan; daughters, Mary McCabe (Hayestown) and Bernie Brady (Fennor, Slane); sisters Evelyn Sloyan (Kiltimagh) and Kathleen Farragher (London); sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, family and friends. Anthony's Funeral Mass took place at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Beauparc, Navan, on September 18 last with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

May his nobel soul rest in peace.
